Jones Act was established 1920 to Puerto Rico, which only allows expensive USA vessels to transport goods to Puerto Rico and vice versa. The items are more expensive then they are in the USA, which effects the people in Puerto Rico. In a state of an emergency Puerto Rico can not receive ANY life essentials products from any other countries who would like to help. Puerto Rico can not buy from competitors countries that Puerto Ricans can buy at a lower price, which they will be able to purchase and help their economic.
* This act prevents many countries to send life essentials products to Puerto Rico in a state of an emergency. In the state of an emergency any country that is near by or wants to help Puerto Rico should be able to debark equipment to help the needing people. In Puerto Rico this act does not help there economic issues or the people in the island because the vessels that USA uses to bring products are very expensive, which makes the product more costly and they can not offered. Puerto Rico should be able to buy from competitors, so they can raise there profits so they can pay off debits. I ask for JONES ACT be stop for a year while Puerto Rico can rebuild, and get help from near by countries who want to help us. Please help my people in Puerto Rico.
