Millions of people belonging to groups whose numbers are marginal in any given settlement i.e localities or villages in India suffer soul and life shattering attrocities largely fear instilling non-violent crimes like perpetual stressfull mental tortures, subtle and crass harassments and terrorisation which in many cases aggravate into violence and depredations. Victims as a natural corallary become vulnerable to criminals and thugs, extortions and blackmailings among others. In case victims fall victims to henious crimes perpetuators invariably get acquitted for want of evidence because in many cases motivated witnesses volunteer themselves to depose with the intention to destroy the case and victims family baulk from deposing or they turn hostile under coercion, threats and fear of backlash and aggravation in attrocities.
We the undersigned pray for an effective legislationof universal application against hate crimes in India in line with 'Prevention of Attrocities on Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribes Act' or even better to give fullest expression to the fundamental and constitutional rights and dignity guaranteed to the citizen by our Constitution.
