If you do a search for World of Warcraft's first level eighty character, you find a vast number of articles on a French Warlock called Nymh.

The pressing issue is, he would have been the second fastest player to reach the new maximum level, had it not been for some unprofessional administration by Blizzard.

Darus, of the Ad Inifitum guild on the Stormscale realm, had managed to reach level 79 within 13 hours of the expansion being released, and was well on track to reaching level 80 within 15 hours of play. He achieved this by using a method called "Mob Tagging", in which a player will seperate from his/her party and attack, allowing this player to gain all of the monster's experience. The other party members work solely to keep him/her alive and do as much damage as possible. This was done in an instance with a team of 5 people, including Darus and his fellow guild-member Athene, self proclaimed "Best Paladin in the World".

Darus, along with Athene and the three others who helped him, were banned soon after they reached level 79 for exploiting the game mechanic. However, they had been given 100% assurance by a game master they had approached beforehand that they would not receive any infractions if they went ahead with the method they chose. Darus has not been given any recognition for his efforts, and his character was reset to level 70 within a few hours.

Worst of all, the "official" World's First Level 80, Nymh, used exactly the same method that Athene and Darus used, just outside of an instance. And he took a full 27 hours, nearly double the time Darus would have achieved.

We, the undersigned, call on Blizzard Entertainment and specifically the Game Masters of World of Warcraft, to apologise to and fully acknowledge Darus of Ad Infinitum on the Stormscale EU realm as the World's First Level Eighty.
