In 2013 Mr Grant and his sister donated 28 acres of ground to the Boone County Conservation in hopes they would use this ground for youth education and youth recreation.
Earlier this year the residents of QF lane in Madrid Iowa were made aware the B.C.C. would be placing a campground on this beautiful 28 acre property that was given to them. The residents, family members, and friends of Mr. Grant have attended the last few B.C.C. meetings. We are fighting a very hard fight with these folks, We have gone in with lists of concerns such as our animals safety, the damage to the ground, and habitat, ect. The .B.C.C did not even take notes of our concerns. In fact they were extremely rude to the est. 40 residents that attended the meetings.
This campground is 100 yards from my home, and 4 other neighbors homes. We have 18 families that live on QF lane and this will affect all 18 families.
There is a Campground already up and running 1.5 miles away from
our homes we truly do not need another camping facility this close to our homes.
With this being said we would very much appreciate any and all signatures from Boone County Residents.
We, the citizens of QF Lane, Petition Boone County Conservation Board and Boone County Board of Supervisors to immediately discontinue plans for any and all camping at Grant's Woods both now and in the future.
Grant's Woods was intended to be a natural educational area.
Swede Point is a Wonderful camping facility located on 1.5 miles away.
We are concerned about the resulting decline in property value if camping is allowed.
Camping increases noise and nuisance potential to our established neighborhood.
We encourage Boone County Conservation and Boone County Board of Supervisors to work with the citizens of QF Lane to build a natural educational area for public use that does not include camping of any type.
