Dear petition supporters. The petition, "Community Radio Station TenFm" failed, to attract sufficient support for the petition to have enough strength to make a difference. But, I thank you for your support.
Today, and for many years, TenFM has been a "closed shop." It is a fact that, the longer people remain in power, the more covert and protective of their empire they become. This has clearly happened to Ten FM. By definition, the station is no longer a community entity. The primary function of a “community” station is just that. Members of the community shall have access without hindrance, nor discrimination. Volunteers should not be excluded from TenFM for personal reasons but clearly, this has happened. While ever the present structure of the station remains, the more isolated the community shall become.
Recent
The latest casualty is Yman who had a loyal following, over a number of years for his Sunday afternoon program. Then there was Gabby, producing excellent media with some of her work still aired today. Then there was me after 8 years. These people and others were volunteers. If you believe that the present structure of TenFM is unfair and not in the communities best interest, please sign my petition at:
PURPOSE of PETITION
To re-energise radio station TenFM by 1/ adopting accepted management principles for running a Community radio station namely, appointing an executive manager for running the day to day operations of the station who shall be responsible to the station board. And 2/ to limit the duration of the terms of office of the President and V.P. To become bi-annual or, such duration terms as agreed to at the forthcoming AGM.
