Community health matters more than your wealth!

Oromia Regional Health Bureau is notoriously known among the physicians for its effort to undermine the service delivered by physicians working in the region. It is the only regional bureau that doesn't pay 'risk allowance' for physicians working under its jurisdiction. Many of its decision which are likely to affect the health sector is developed and set in to action without open discussion and deliberation with concerned bodies.

In this petition, We demand that the Oromia Regional Health Bureau and Federal Ministry of Health to reconsider their recent plan that reduced the duty time and payment. Physicians working in different hospitals across Oromia region are facing unnecessary challenges and lowest salary, duty or other payments when compared to those physicians serving in other parts of world including all other regions in Ethiopia.

(1). The recent plan to reduce duty time is set without consultation and discussion with concerned body.

(2). It is entered in to effect without any prior announcement and without disclosure of its pros and cons.

(3). Reducing duty time and creating physician free time on hospital level will endanger the life of critical patients, and others too.

(4). It affects quality of health delivered to community and create loss of hope in government health institutions among community.

(5). It has drastic effect on reducing physicians' satisfaction and motivation in the workplace.

Therefore, we demand the bureau to revise its decision and meet to discuss with representative physicians of each hospital on this and other issues.
