Child Suppot

I am writing to you about the Child Support Legislation that you currently have in place.

As you might be aware there are literally thousands of parents will go to extreme lengths to avoid paying Child Support. The Agency advises that there are millions of dollars in arrears.

The agency at present doesn’t have enough powers to be able to collect. I am suggesting that they be given the authority to garnishee the superannuation of those who habitually abuse this process. These recalcitrant parents should be the target of this process.

A lot of children are missing opportunities as the care-giver of that child is unable to provide basic necessities. This includes dental braces (not covered by the current dental scheme), clothing, school lunches, sports activities, school excursions, transport & outside home social functions etc.

The financial burden placed on the care-giver is exacerbated if he/she becomes unemployed. As you can imagine this have dire consequences for the children as’ welfare.

Also it would provide a disincentive for those seeking to rort the system. It is critical that children receive this financial support as it will have dire consequences on their ability to enter the workforce in later years.
