Hello my name is Shanell Castro. I am starting a petition due to me and my children being failed by the Las Animas County Social Services not once but twice. I had an open case with DHS which I now appealed. The social services here along with the rest of the government services here is beyond corrupted rumors but when rumors start coming true. I went to my caseworker and asked for drug court I was denied. Later I went back and asked for rehab also asked my attorney and nothing was done. After going to them I had violations of human dignity of humiliation that diminish my self-worth as a person to just be shut down and the whole town seen. The primarily mission of the social work profession is to enhance human well being and help meet the basic needs of all people and why they did not give me drug help or refused not once but twice. They have sent everyone else here in this town why I couldn’t be given the same opportunity to get my family back together (Children’s Services Values and Principles). Partnership ( In promoting the right, services will be provided In partnership with parents, significant people in children lives and other agencies to assist and support parents in meeting the childrens needs within the family !!!!!) I admit my failure I wish they could admit theirs!! They say how can you get the help you need unless your honest I went to them with all honesty to be just shut out. I have found sobriety and currently maintaining everything to bring my babies home, I refuse to lose hope, why they continue to mistreat me its like my kids I prayed on I can’t prove it but I can feel it and that’s enough for me. I am pleading for agreement that they were suppose to help but failed me more importantly my babies and an obligation reunite familys.
