Thank you to all that signed the our petition. With the amount of signatures versus the amount of people who viewed the petition, it is a rough estimate that almost 20% (20% of an average 3.3 million viewers 660,000) of Hockey Night in Canada viewers wanted Ron MacLean back as the main host. Well we will never know if this petition had any impact, never the less the results ended up the same.

If Ron MacLean accomplished anything in suggesting that NHL president Gary Bettman might have played a role in his demotion under the new Rogers hockey regime, it was to shine a light on how business is done in the television world.
In an article published in the Globe and Mail on the weekend, MacLean spoke about his new role as a cross-Canada rover hosting Rogers new Sunday night hockey package. But at the same time, he made it clear that he saw the new job as a step down from being the man at the centre of Hockey Night In Canada.
Not surprisingly, Rogers denied that Bettman had anything to do with MacLean's job change. While we'll probably never know if that's true, it's highly unlikely that shuffling MacLean to the sidelines was engineered by Bettman.

This petition is to bring back Ron MacLean as the main host of Hockey Night in Canada and to remove George Stroumboulopoulos from being our national sport Hockey Night in Canada host. In our opinion George has NO hockey background nor the knowledge about the game in itself or the history of it to be in such a premier position like the host of Hockey Night in Canada.
We feel as a small group, that Ron MacLean is a much better TV personality to be the of host Hockey Night in Canada . With all of his knowledge and experience of the game at the NHL level and all his previous accompanists, makes him in our opinion the right person to keep the audience engaged viewing Hockey Night in Canada.
