All of us laughed every single time we watched that now infamous news clip and the subsequent "refix" video that made Clifton Brown a familiar face and name to us.
Then, we watched an interview with Clifton and were bothered by what we saw as an opportunity for us to look at the bigger picture and were genuinely shocked that the producers and presenters of a popular morning TV show did not see that as a part of their civic responsibility.
On the Facebook page for the morning show, after making it clear that he had no reason to apologise, the presenter wrote: "...for the wonderful people that you are, who were so disgusted that you kept watching till the end, tell me what you are going to do to help get the bridge erected."
We the undersigned call upon: Minister Mike Henry, P.S. Dr. Alwin Hales, MP Joseph Hibbert, Councillor Alvin Francis and Mr. Patrick Wong, CEO of NWA and other relevant government officials and public works authorities to move forward with the plan for building a bridge for the Mavis Bank Community in Jamaica.
As Jamaicans by birth and by heart, we have heard the earnest plea for safety for this community and we stand ready to assist with our collective talents and resources.
We realize that no undertaking can be done without research and we would like to understand where the status of this bridge plan is and what we can do to expedite this.
We are committed to keeping this topic on the top of everyone's minds until something is done to help this community's infrastructure. Currently we are over 2,000 strong on Facebook and Twitter and are growing by leaps and bounds. We believe in the collective power of the people and it is our earnest hope that you will move forward and expeditiously on the matter.
