We have been made aware that, in response to the Superior Court's February 3rd decision in the Sunset Ranch Hollywood Stables vs City of Los Angeles lawsuit, the City is closing the Hollyridge trailhead at the top of Beachwood Canyon and redirecting tourists and pedestrians to Bronson Canyon/Canyon Drive. We the undersigned urge the City not to take such an action as (1) it was not ordered by the Judge in the case, (2) it in fact contradicts the Judge's order that the City provide "public pedestrian access to the Hollyridge Trail" as close to the existing trailhead as possible, (3) redirecting Hollywood Sign tourists to an area farther from the Hollywood Sign makes little practical sense, and (4) pushing the problem of too many pedestrian tourists from one canyon over to the next canyon does nothing to solve the problem; it merely inflicts it on a different group of residents.
