Barbara Castle Way Health Centre is a multi-million pound building. During the planning of the building staff were informed that parking facilities would be available. No parking for staff has been provided.
This leaves members of staff in a very unsafe location, vulnerable and having to walk considerable distances to and from their vehicles often with heavy equipment.
We have now been informed that the local council will be implementing double yellow lines within a mile radius of the health centre. The local council has informed us that there is parking available at £6.00 per day (£1,300 per year).
Many staff members are not in position to pay this large amount , as other health care facilities do not incur car parking costs.
We the undersigned call upon all health service staff potentially affected by a financial cost of car parking in providing health services within the new Barbara Castle Way Health Centre.
