The current Government's cuts and removal of transport facilities for people with disabilities is having a detrimental impact on vulnerable service users.

Please sign my petition below. It will be sent to the Irish Minister for Health and the HSE (Health Service Executive of Ireland) to prevent prohibitive transport cuts which affect people with disabilities.

The current Government's cuts and removal of transport facilities for people with disabilities is having a detrimental impact on vulnerable service users. Many people with disabilities are now unable to attend clinics or avail of vital services for their health and wellbeing.

Georgina is but one example of the thousands impacted. Georgina, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, is from the Balbriggan area who has been attending a day centre clinic once a week for a number of years now.

She is not able to use public transport on her own and currently her and her family have no option other than to use private transport. This transport has been subsidised up until now by the HSE.

As a cost saving measure this subsidy has now been revoked. This means that Georgina can no longer attend the day centre.

The day centre provides, purpose, structure and a means of personal development for Georgina. The loss of this facility is devastating to Georgina and her family.

If other users of the centre also have their transport expenses revoked it may negatively impact the centres work and its contribution in improving the lives of the disabled.

All Irish citizens have a right to lead a dignified, productive and happy life. People with disabilities are punished for the sins of others, such as bankers and property developers. The disabled because they often cannot speak for themselves are being used by our Government as a soft target. This is wrong.

Please sign this petition to tell the Government and HSE that you do not support cutting services to vulnerable members of society.

Social exclusion of people with disabilities is not acceptable. They are entitled to the same quality of life as all able bodied people.
