Stop Monopoly of Horses with Hope in the South Park Public Riding Arena

"Horses with Hope" is a non profit organization started in Washington county. Agreements were made with representatives of Allegheny county to rent this non-profit organization a building in the fairground area without compliance to zoning requirements for having horses in South Park. They have been excused from compliance with any of the the requirements to have horses in South Park or posting of any zoning changes. Allegheny County Park Representatives have also allowed them to monopolize the use of a county park facility to run this non-profit organization. Not only have they have been shown favoritism, but they have been provided with use of taxpayers park facilities at little or no cost to run a business.

Park facilities are there for the enjoyment of tax paying residents and not for the use of revenue generating business: either profit or not profit generating. The park riding arena is the only facility of its type in all of Allegheny county. Residents drive from all over the county to use this facility. These taxpaying residents are not only turned away, but are threatened by Allegheny County police that they must vacate the premises or they will be arrested.

Residents of Allegheny County are being denied the use of a county park facility which they have paid for. "Horses with Hope" has monopolized this facility for the benefit of its own personal business use and not for events, as specified in the park policy. County park facilities have not ever been built for the use of a single entity to run their organization. This is misuse and abuse of tax payers dollars. AND IT MUST BE STOPPED NOW!
