On 3/12/2012 the AVC Trustees voted to not renew the contract of Bridget Razo, Executive Director of Advancement and Foundation. The Foundation office, under the direction of Ms. Razo, provides scholarships and grants to benefit students, faculty, and staff. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the AVC Foundation also works to raise money for various college programs that are not funded by the college budget. For the past 5 years, the AVC Foundation office also has been solely responsible for the Scholarship Program at AVC. This year, the AVC Foundation will grant scholarships amounting to approximately $150,000 for AVC students.

In the event of Ms. Razo’s dismissal, the scholarship program will not be able to continue the excellent process it has developed, thanks to her leadership. Numerous scholarship endowments and other campus funds will be at financial risk, without the guidance of an experienced administrator. Ms. Razo has a Masters Degree in Public Administration, specializing in public policy. Without the guidance and expertise of Ms. Razo, who has years of knowledge in fundraising and nonprofit law, the foundation can not continue to grow and serve Antelope Valley College and its students as efficiently as it has for the past 10 years.

Please help us urge the Trustees not to take this action of laying off Ms. Razo and possibly damaging our AVC Foundation’s fundraising efforts for students beyond repair.
