In 2015 the Victorian State Government conducted the Regional Network Development Plan survey/consultation across Victoria. Some members of the Anglesea community raised awareness of this poorly promoted 'consultation' within the Barwon South West district, forming ApTAG (Anglesea public Transport Action Group). See the PTV website for the outcome/summary : -http://economicdevelopment.vic.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0017/1331612/CRV-Barwon-South-West.pdf

In a nutshell, the main concern raised was - That the existing V-Line coach service travels from Apollo Bay along the Great Ocean Road, through Anglesea and on to Torquay and continues on to the Geelong Railway Station. This is despite our nearest, and newly constructed Waurn Ponds station. Both Torquay and Jan Juc already have frequent PTV bus services to/from Geelong..

Morning V-Line coaches depart Anglesea at (approx.) 7.30AM and 11.30AM, leaving a HUGE gap for students and employees needing to arrive in Waurn Ponds around 9AM, as they currently need to change to other buses (from either Marshall or Geelong). People requiring specialist medical appointments, others who which to exercise at the swimming pool/leisure centre, watch a movie, meet family or friends, deal with specialist providers, and such, are also restricted.

People wishing to travel to Melbourne would be able to obtain a seat on the busy Geelong line train by boarding at Waurn Ponds, which is MyKi compatible.

Returning to Anglesea is currently restricted by train connections to coaches in Geelong - which are poorly limited.

Weekend coaches to and from Melbourne are woeful.

We, the undersigned, call on Public Transport Victoria to provide direct transport for the residents and holidaymakers of Anglesea (and local surrounds) to and from Waurn Ponds (railway station and business precinct).

Direct, regular access to our nearest railway station, university, major recreational services and specialist providers in Waurn Ponds would greatly improve our lifestyle and current limited options. It would mean reducing the travel time to our nearest railway station by 30 minutes!

School buses could perhaps be utilized - to provide a service between 9.30am and 2.30pm. To begin with, a service of one or two days per week, would build a support base - before the Armstrong Creek housing development places pressure on the whole district. Once the new service is patronized and established, a review would identify the most common needs to provide better options for employees, university students, unlicensed (car) people, young and old folk, international travellers and locals alike would be able to have much better access to our nearest railway station and business centre.

How about it, PTV?
