For years, some companies mistreated their employees and forced some to work off the clock. It came to the attention of Congress, and they created a law that to prevent this abuse. However, in doing so, they made it impossible for anyone to willingly volunteer to work for a company. Even though one may not make money working, they gain experience.
Volunteering is also a good way for companies to see who is good at the job, before hiring them.
This law should not be removed, but reformed to allow volenteers to work for no pay. A contract with the volenteer is a must to ensure safety.
We, the undersigned, ask the members of Congress to allow volunteers to work in the workplace at no cost to the company.
