Allow Pittbulls back to Andover Ks

Greetings,
This petition was created after a vote on the Andover Chatter Facebook Page with the question "Should Pit Bulls be allowed in Central Park?"
To allow Pitbulls in Central Park, the Breed Selective Legislation (BSL) will have to be changed.
The vote was 228 people for and 181 people against lifting the BSL.
I have done a considerable amount of reading on Pitties and have learned a lot more about the breed. Bans on pit bulls are detrimental to their survival rates in animal shelters. Statistically, these breeds are the most often euthanized dog in America, and because they are banned in so many cities, most of them are confiscated and then sent to Animal Services. By lifting this ban, you can give them a chance to remain with their responsible, loving owners and prevent an unnecessary death because of a vast number of pit bulls in shelters.
We do understand that some Pitties have been trained to fight, but the owners of these fighting dogs are not the type of person who would want to bring their dogs to Andover Central Dog Park.
I have learned that dogs don't bite because of their breed, dogs bite because they are afraid and that is almost always because of poor socialization and lack of effective training, isolation on a chain, abuse, or neglect.
