A vacant premises in the ground floor of a block of flats on Herne Bay sea front may be given over to a Costa Coffee cafe. A petition has been signed by some residents to stop this from happening, and this has appeared in the local press. However, I don't believe that all residents support this petition (and may be uneasy about admitting this). I want to give such people the chance to express their views here.
We think that a limited presence of large corporations in Herne Bay (such as Costa Coffee) is beneficial to Herne Bay. It would encourage more tourists into the town, encourage more spending, and provide significant employment. It's good to have independent coffee houses, but Costa would offer an additional experience both for local residents and visitors. It would represent a seal of approval for the town.
