Abusers of women should register as do child sex abusers

85-95% of all domestic violence victims are female.

Over 500,00 women are stalked by an intimate partner each year. 5.3 million women are abused each year. 1,232 women are killed each year by an intimate partner. Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women.

Women are more likely to be attacked by someone they know rather than by a stranger. Every 9 seconds a woman reports a domestic violence
incident.

Getting away from the violence is not as easy as everyone thinks. While we have come a long way offering various resources to battered women, those resources only go so far. The women continue to be victims, feeling ashamed, helpless with no place to turn.

I propose we make it a little more difficult for men to continue the abusive pattern from woman to woman. Once a man is convicted of abuse in a court of law, I propose he is made to register himself the same way we make child molesters register themselves. This will serve two purposes; He will be put in a similar position he has put his victim in, ie he will lose control of a situation, but more importantly other women will know of his past abuse.
