The Goal. To stop and punish research laboratories from killing dogs and other lab animals in their possession.
The Problem. From the cosmetic products that we use to the drugs that we are taking, research animals from all around the world suffer. While scientific experiments involving animals are often unavoidable for the sake of human survival, the way these lab animals are treated go far beyond what is necessary and humane.
Lab animals are kept in tight places, where they cannot move or rest properly. They are subjected to various tests, prevented to socialize with other animals, and beaten by their caretakers. As if they haven’t suffered enough, they are killed when they become of no use or if the facility has become crowded.
The Solution. Legislations should be created to protect the welfare of animals under the care of research facilities. There should be clear limits on the number of animal experiments a facility is allowed to do for a certain period of time, and killing them should be punishable by law.
Animals which are no longer needed should be released from labs whenever possible. Dogs in particular, who are highly social and loving animals, deserve the right to live to their full lifespan and find companionship from humans and other animals. If research facilities no longer need them, they should be released and allowed to be adopted by families who can shower them with love and attention.
