9th Grade Take Home Laptops

For over 3 years RSD has built up the idea of students having take home laptops. This year the rumors were confirmed and RSD said that the incoming 9th graders would receive laptops to take home with us and take wherever we go. But in a meeting the 9th grade high school teachers ruled out against the students receiving laptops. Also Tolt is now funding the newest laptops for the incoming 8th graders but not for the older students. As current 8th graders at Tolt Middle School we have become so used to being a completely online school, so if we were to switch, it would be such a dramatic change that it might affect students grades. Another reason that Cedarcrest should reconsider their decision to not purchase take home laptops for the students is that some students are extremely unorganized when it comes to working on paper and that effects how they learn where as if they were working on laptops, everything would be in the same place all the time and they would be able to always look at work from the past. Lastly, many students in our school district do not have the ability to use the internet or print class work, this affects their grades and learning dramatically. If we had take home computers it would change the way that students learn for the better. Overall, Cedarcrest needs to reconsider their decision and purchase laptops for the high school students.
