Target:
Botany Council
Region:
Australia

The Council has an application for further modifications for the proposed 24 hour / 7 days per week operating Container & Freight Terminal addressed at 28 Swinbourne St Botany.

The Application Number DA 2013/88 is requesting modifications to Truck access and operations.

We the residents of East Central, 30-32 Stephen Raod and surrounding residents of Swinbourne Street and Brighton Street are opposed to the "proposed development" due to the following reasons:

1) Increased heavy vehicle traffic in the area:
- the junction of Swinbourne, Stephen Rd, Page St is already busy especially during in the morning and late afternoon
- the impact of extra traffic in relation to school drop off and pick time for Page street school and Banksmeadow school Brighton street
- Swinbourne st through to William St is already busy (used as a rat run to Botany St)
- Local politicians have been talking it up about reducing heavy vehicle traffic in the area (eg the development of Hale st to Foreshore Drive and the restriction of heavy vehicles along Botany Rd)
- Those people who use Hale st, can attest to the increase in heavy vehicle and light vehicle traffic.
- Wentworth Ave is already congested and has a large number of trucks entering and leaving Wentworth ave via Baker Steet
- Foreshore Drive is already congested with heavy vehicles.

2) The area is being developed as residential, eg our complex, the new development in Wilson St (this development will also increase vehicle traffic),

3) The development will adversely affect our property prices.

4) Increased exhaust fumes from trucks will further pollute our complex and have adverse health implications.

5) Truck speed and safety concerns in the area have been ongoing with numerous witnesses identifying speeding trucks in built up residential area (50KM per hour)

6) Our area does not have the road network to adequately and safely cater for the increased in heavy vehicle traffic.

7) Increased heavy vehicles means more damage to the roads in our area and that is ongoing.
