When people commit an infraction and a fine is the penalty, this is a good souce for revenue and enforcing the law. In this situation, Bay Shore Rd is an access road mainly for people who live on or in the surrounding area; it is not a speedway alternative for the main Highway 41.
The speed limit is 25mph and 7 out of 10 cars exceed that by at least 10mph and as much as 2.5x the limit.
I would like to have 2 traffic cameras strategically placed to capture the culprits.
We, the undersigned, call upon Sarasota City Hall and the Local Police Department to Purchase and Place two Traffic Cameras on Bay Shore Road between Windsor Street and University Blvd.
