East Reading suffers from a high number of Estate Agent signs advertising properties for sale or to let. At times there have been as many as 30 signs in a street of 100 houses.
Residents are concerned that these clutter the streets and damage the local environment making it look untidy and run down, acting as a disincentive to people to come to live in the area. The effect of the signs is to lower property values and reduce interest in house purchases in the area.
Some of these signs are illegally displayed and left in place long after they are entitled to be on show causing further concern to residents and requiring enforcement action by the Council to have them removed. A total ban on these signs will be beneficial to the local community.
I the undersigned as a resident of East Reading call on Reading Borough Council to introduce a ban on the use of Estate Agent signs across East Reading.
The number of signs displayed across the area is having a serious negative effect and local residents would like to see this practice end.
