I am asking for the support of the community to respond to this call for action. I am seeking to have a criminal conviction expunged from the record of Lavert Jones. Lavert Jones served 19 years and 9 months for a crime he did not commit. He was tortured and beaten, and wrongfully convicted.

Recently publicized influential Miscarriage of Justice in Illinois was the Anthony Porter case. Anthony Porter was also an inmate on death row, by sheer luck Porter's innocence was discovered and he was exonerated and released. Lavert Jones is also innocent and deserves to be exonerated from this criminal conviction. Detail information can be found in the Chicago Police Archive of Tortured Victims.

"My innocence is now discovered that former Police Commander John Burges of Chicago Illinois has been convicted and sentenced for such inhuman behavior."

We the Friends of Lavert Jones are appealing to the local and global community for support in pressuring the Criminal Justice Department and Authorities to do the right thing and clear Lavert's name, so he may go on with his life.

Mr. Jones said "The most difficult issues I am faced with since my release in 2003 is the criminal conviction that yet remains on my name."

The Freeway or NOway.... Wrongful Conviction of Lavert Jones petition to Illinois Prison Review Board was written by Valeria Davis and is in the category Justice at GoPetition.
