Install NO PARKING Signs

THIS PETITION TO INSTALL “NO PARKING” SIGNS ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE 8600 BLOCK OF OZARK AVENUE IN NILES ILLINOIS, IS BEING INITIATED due to the increased activity at Notre Dame College Prep in Niles AND due to the fact that the people attending these events have continually parked on the grassy area located on the east side of the 8600 block of North Ozark Ave AND because of this parking, a safety hazard has been created in the neighborhood, decreasing the size of the street for northbound & southbound vehicles to pass at the same time.

Hazards created are: 1) difficult for emergency vehicles to pass; 2) cars have been side-swiped; 3) continual blocking of the fire hydrant on Ozark; 4) continual blocking of the stop sign at Crain & Ozark; 5) we are also on the Niles Free Bus route and the parking on the grass makes it extremely difficult for the buses to pass safely – this bus is sometimes the only transportation option some of our elderly have.
Installing NO PARKING SIGNS will decongest the area and keep it safe for residents, vehicles, and the continual flow of children darting out from behind parked vehicles.

There are no houses on the east side of the 8600 block of Ozark, so the NO PARKING signs will not adversely affect the neighborhood in any way. In fact, the signs will keep the area around Notre Dame safer and help manage the uncontrollable traffic situations that occur because of the increased number of events at Notre Dame High School.

The Neighbors of Notre Dame would appreciate expeditious consideration, approval and implementation of these NO PARKING SIGNS. Spring will arrive soon and so will numerous track events, not only Notre Dame’s, but the neighboring grade schools as well. Then before we know it, the fall 2011 school year will commence, along with another football season.

We are hoping that the new school year and football season will be a safe and enjoyable one for ALL.
