STOP Trigger Happy Animal Control Officers in Crossville, TN

We are asking for the removal of the Cumberland County Animal Control Officers. These Officers have shot and killed homeless and citizen owned dogs and cats who have posed no immediate threat to their lives.

These killings have taken place on citizen's personal property as well as at the Cumberland County Animal Shelter in Crossville, TN. Officers have made comments referring to impounded shelter animals stating that " they have been here too long and need to be killed". Jan.2011 an American Bulldog mix breed was shot to death,in his pen. Brutus was set for transport to a rescue organization that next week. A citizen owned 10lb Schnauzer was shot by an officer, simply because, as stated by the officer"I could not catch it" .

In addition, a dog was brought in by aco with multiple breaks in one leg and deep gashes that were bleeding. The dog had been hit by a car and was impounded. He was left in a cage bleeding with his leg completely dislocated and turned backwards. No medical attention was given by aco or shelter.

Both ACO's have also made comments about their dislike of animals especially being afraid of pit bull type dogs. They drag dogs and cats around on Catch Poles like they are meat. They recently slung a cage with a kitten in it across the shelter floor stating"it's just a cat". ....

This inhumane care is uncalled for and we want it stopped. Idle threats by the local government to close the shelter are not the answer.
