For the next 60 days Mo ‘Shay LaRen, founder of The Love Yourself Campaign and Committee Board Member of the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence, is appealing to all concerned citizens nationwide to sign a petition requesting our members of Congress to vote for the Family Violence and Prevention Act, HR 4116.
Congresswoman Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) introduced the reauthorization of the Family Violence and Prevention Services Act, the only federal legislation that provides the funding to keep the lights on and the doors open at local domestic violence shelters across the country.
According to Moore, increasing the authorization level for local shelters and programs to $250 million (from $175 million); will create new grants for organizations to target traditionally underserved communities including communities of color with support.
