FAMILIES AND FRIENDS ARE CRYING OUT "STOP THE VIOLENCE" TO ALL THE KILLINGS AND VICTIMS OF ACTS OF VIOLENCE IN MASSACHUSETTS, ESPECIALLY AFTER TWO DEATHS (OF THE SAME FAMILY TOOK PLACE SUN., NOV. 21ST 2010): Currently there are 116 known gangs in Boston.
In the 80s, there were a mere 15. ACCORDING TO WWW.NATIONALGANGCENTER.ORG THERE ARE OVER 187 CASES (not including the individual deaths and the amount of deaths in each case which numerous have totaled up to 6-7 people in each case.) In an article published by ABC news, 80% of crimes in the US are due to Gang-related activity.
Lives are lost, families are in constant mourning, "retaliation" amongst gangs are ongoing making it nearly impossible to better the situation and something MUST BE DONE! Our community sanity and peace has been taken away...
We, the people of Boston, Massachusetts as well as, different states in the United States (such as New York, Florida, New Jersey, etc.) call to the Governor, Deval Patrick as well as, Mayor, Thomas Menino, to clean Massachusetts once and for all.
Methods, such as, bringing officers to schools to make sure youngsters aren't skipping classes/missing school., exactly how it was done before, providing more jobs/after-school activities/community centers, more funding available for street workers and ULTIMATELY, reinforcing the laws and penalties for such acts of violence in order for everyone to understand the seriousness and the responsibilities of their actions!
