To whom it may concern,
The backround of Caledonia Road, is that over the past years use of the road as access to the #1 highway has become very busy. This has deteriorated the road condition, caused an unsafe road to walk on due to the excessive speeds, is a constant battle with dust, the constant shaking of homes from larger vehicles ignoring the non truck route signs.
The road is the only access for the residents of Place Vermette and St-Alphonse to reach their homes. The road is owned by both the town of Ste-Anne and the RM of Ste-Anne, making the maintenance of the road almost completely ignored for the majority of the year.
The ditch on the East side of Caledonia has next to no flow and was cut once in 2010, it also requires attention. The residents of town deserve action on the road to resolve the problems.
To whom it may concern,
We the residents of Place Vermette and St-Alphonse request action be taken to fix the problems with Caledonia Road. Some of the problems are the following,
- Condition of road (washboard, very rough, extremely dusty, non truck route ignored by several large trucks);
- Safety concerns (posted speed-limit exceeded on daily basis by many commuters, unsafe to walk for pedestrians because of speed of traffic and unpredictable loss of control of vehicle due to speed and washboard combination);
- Improper signage ( There is a lack of signs warning vehicles that speedlimit declines from 90km to 50km until they've already reached residential area, no signs warning of kids playing, and that they are entering residential area) ;
- Condition of ditch on east side of road has not been maintained, thus resulting in drainage problems.
