Ontario families need a more inclusive child care program that will fulfil the needs of each and every family.

Universal Child Care System needs to be implemented in Ontario due to the growing number of families in need of affordable child care and the lack of child care spaces available.

According to the City of Toronto, there are over 16,000 children on the subsidy waiting list in Toronto. The Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care (OCBCC) states, 20% of young children today have access to a regulated space and, in many regions, child care fees are the second highest expense for young families. Without the child care subsidy, child care runs from $11,000-$17,000/year for one child.

Childcare is a necessary service and the government needs to take steps to ensure it is viewed as a universal, essential service for all children. This petition calls for the Provincial and Federal Government to finally implement a system that does not exclude any Ontario family but instead benefits all.

We recognize the current child care system in place promotes women’s inequality, resulting in child poverty.

Support us, in supporting you, in bringing forth change to the current child care system.

Its about time Ontario families have access to a more beneficial childcare program and replace the current Ontario Child Care Subsidy Program and the unsubsidized high cost of daycare with the free, Ontario Universal Child Care Program.
