We are asking the County Commissioners to allow the citizens of Franklin County to bring forward to a referendum vote for or against any courthouse expansion.
This vote for or against the expansion will be binding.
WE the undersigned citizens of Franklin County do hereby petition our Franklin County Commissioners in regard to their stated intention to embark on the most expensive project in the history of Franklin County.
WHEREAS in the period of great economic stress and concern we hereby direct the Franklin County Commissioners to cease to spend any taxpayer monies toward the proposed courthouse expansion until said commissioners agree to a special election and referendum.
WHEREAS allowing the residents of said county to vote for or against any courthouse expansion.
WHEREAS a majority vote for or against said expansion will be binding.
WHEREAS we the undersigned state that we are emphatically against the county courthouse expansion project.
RESOLVED if said commissioners fail to abide by the said petition requirements and/or neglect to proceed with a special voter referendum it will be evident that you, the commissioners, are disregarding the will of the people for your own self-interest and will be vigorously opposed as a candidate in any future election.
RESOLVED by the signatures set forth do hereby agree and approve the contents contained within this petition.
