In less than a year from today, on October 15, 2011, Liberia will be going to the polls to elect a President, Vice President, Senators, and Representatives to manage the affairs of the country and governance. The 2011 elections will be the second of its kind since cessation of the civil war in 2003.

The first postwar election was held in 2005 and 21 candidates contested for President including football legend and 1994 FIFA World Best George Weah. President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf won that election and is today Africa's first female President.

Five years after the election and the sitting of the new government, much of the factors which led to the civil war are yet to be taken seriously despite the destruction of the country. Corruption is on the loose, government officials are stealing from the public coffers and walk with pride and impunity while the country suffers and government attaches reluctance to prosecute officials involved even though the General Auditing Commission, GAC will indict them and recommend prosecution, President Sirleaf will turn a deaf ear and in some instances join those public officials indicted in audit reports to attack the findings.

Corruption is the order of the day in Liberia, public officials feast on the public coffers while the public goes hungry and no sign of easing of the problem. Worst of the situation in Liberia is the people serving in government mainly through the special election of 2005 took part in the war either as financiers, commanders, foot soldiers, and or planners including President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf who to has been recommended by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, TRC not to hold any public for 30 years along with 49 other Liberians for their role in the civil war.

Despite several present government officials are banned from holding public office for 30 years, it is unfortunate that these officials including the President chose to ignore, abuse the rule of law, and place themselves above the country by defying their ban using their power to contest for public office in the coming elections and crown with the corruption endemic destroying our country. With all there ills reoccurring in our homeland after all we have gone through and the lost of almost 250,000 our fellow countrymen, we beg the question why the logic of the war and the purpose of the lost of our fellow countrymen, anyway if after all we will still to the same thing for which the so called civil war was fought to eradicate.

Now therefore, after 162 years of our existence as a nation and Africa's first independent Republic despite God bountiful blessing on our country with his enormous plenty, our country is yet to show what we have done as a nation to show for the age we have existed for. With corruption being our nightmare depriving much needed development and this generation being presented the opportunity to change and retool and give our country a make over and social re-engineer our country for the best, we have come to petition Mr. John Morlu, Auditor General of Liberia to seek the Presidency of Liberia in 2011 as independent candidate. We also call on Senator Franklin Siakor of Bong County to go along as Vice President in the 2011 elections.

Liberia will be a new and better nation under the leadership of these two Liberians. Both men have demonstrated nationalism and the resolve to purge the cancer bleeding our country to oblivion.

It is with these reasons stated above that we, the people of Liberia come to petition Mr. John Morlu and Franklin Siakor to seek the Presidency and Vice Presidency respectively in the 2011 elections as independent candidates.
