SUBJECT: Proposed Gym/Recreation Center at 2621& 2625 Marlborough Ave.
Dear Neighbor,
I am writing to you because I am very concerned about what is about to happen to our neighborhood. The County is considering allowing a gym/recreation center to be built on the corner of Marlborough and Nottingham Avenues.
This development will have a big affect on the neighborhood. The gym/recreation center is intended to serve teens and youth. It will attract a lot of people to the neighborhood who would not normally visit. I have also learned that the facility will be used for a new Sheriff’s Sub-Station. I believe this development will lower our property values and have a negative affect on the neighborhood.
In order for it to be built, the County first has to approve a special “Use Permit” to allow a commercial development where there used to be a residence. The owner/builder also wants the County to give them a special exception to allow the gym to be built with only ONE parking space.
If you agree with me, and are concerned about this project, would you please fill out the enclosed card and send it to the County Planning Department?
We are concerned that the proposed gym/recreation center will negatively affect the quality of life and property value in the Dumbartion Oaks area.
The Zoning Hearing Office should REJECT the following. Use Permit for the gym/recreation Center in a multi-Family residential area. Exception to allow one (1) off street parking space where 234 are required.
