This petition is in regard to William F. Besley, a 30 year old father with no prior criminal background. In April of 2010 he was sentenced to 10 years in prison with 7 years and 3 months suspended leaving him 2 years and 10 months to serve behind bars.

He was convicted of DUI/Involuntary manslaughter stemming from a tragic car accident he was involved in almost 4 years ago. William wanted to plead guilty in 2006 when the accident happened but the case continued for more then 3 years. When trial day finally came he did not receive a fair one and was not allowed to show his remorse he received the maximum sentence.

A normal sentence for someone with this charge and William's good background is 6 months to 1 year in jail, but because of inefficient counsel he has to sit in prison for 2 years and 10 months.

William is a good man and loving husband and father who just wants to provide for and take care of his family. This petition is not to reduce his sentence but modify it so he can obtain work and support his family.

My son, Orrin, and I can make it a little while without William's support but in 2 years and 10 months we will lose everything we have worked so hard for.

We the undersigned are requesting a Modified Sentence for Mr. William F. Besley. He has already served almost 3 months in Riverside Regional Jail.

We request that his sentence be modified so that he can find work to help provide for his family.
