Supporting Prof. Nick Bakos

We, the undersigned, are CURRENT AND FORMER students of Nicholas Bakos. We testify, without hesitation, that Mr. Bakos was one of the best teachers we have had at La Guardia, that he always taught us with professionalism, academic rigor, intelligence and respect for us as students, as immigrants and as people, that he always treated us all with warmth, affection and solicitousness, and that he always tried to help us in any way possible, both academically and personally, and always beyond the limits of his professional obligations.

We demand that Nicholas be reinstated at La Guardia College immediately and have his Spring 2010 class reassigned to him. If not, we cannot continue to support The English Language Center at La Guardia Community College in any way and we will go to one of the many other institutions New York City offers to continue our English education, institutions that respect us and acknowledge our wishes, and we will make sure that other family, friends, and members of our community do the same as well.

We will also contact our community media and urge them to report on The English Language Center, its disrespect and abuse of their student body’s wishes and how they fired one of their best teachers against our will and without review or appeal.
