Smokers have rights too. It seems like the smoke-free environmentalist are winning on the clean air project. It’s a one sided battle, because I haven't heard one tobacco user stand up and speak their mind. Ok I take that back, if you would go to a smoking lounge, you’d hear plenty of complaints.
Some college campuses have put a ban on smoking for all of the school grounds. When the school goes smoke-free, they actually mean everywhere on campus. The schools are converting to non-smoking campuses as fast as a plague. So don’t plan on smoking a cigarette on any campus grounds in the near future.
Smoking bans have been engaged into almost all restaurants and bars in the entire United States. So in other words, smoking cigarettes is an outdoor activity these days. The sad part is that the smoking areas that are outdoors are starting to disappear. So just like the ashtrays in the airplanes armrest, the trash can with the ashtray is becoming useless too.
I would say most smokers put there cigarette butts in the trash. But for those who are rebellious and think they are making a point by throwing your cigarette butts in the grass, you are dumb. Those cigarette butts are disgusting and someone has to pick them up. The fact is that the non-smokers out number smokers and the more the tobacco users keep trashing up areas, the tighter the grip will be on consequences.
By putting designated smoking areas close to the banned areas would immensely improve the cigarette butt issues. Smokers are our friends, family, and neighbors, so let’s treat them like they are. After all it’s their decision to smoke cigarettes, so continue to tell them that it’s bad for them, but don’t treat them poorly for it.
I am a non-smoker and i think that there should be either; more designated smoke areas or more control over the outdoor bans.
Cigarette butts are annoying and the only way to keep them from over populating lawns and side-walks, is to give the smokers a area to smoke in. So the banning of smoking should come with some guidelines.
This battle is two sided and nobody wants to be taken advantage of. So let us help our smoking friends out so they don't feel they have to throw their cigarette butts on the ground. Ban smoking in-doors and in cities, but lets give the smokers some areas to which they can still smoke, so we can limit the trash in our cities.
