The intersection at Riddle Road and South Alston Avenue is now controlled by 4-way stop signs. This traffic control measure is insufficient to handle the growing traffic on these two state-maintained secondary roads. This intersection has also been the site of numerous accidents over the past decade.

In addition to new residential subdivisions and industrial growth, a new shopping center, Washington Terrace, is planned in the area and will add over 9,000 cars on Riddle Road when completed.

This corridor is also an alternate route to the Research Triangle Park, one of Durham's economic growth engines, and to Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

The safety of the surrounding neighborhoods, businesses and pedestrians is at risk if the growing traffic is not controlled.

We, the undersigned request a 4-way traffic signal with a left-turn signal at the intersection of Riddle Road and South Alston Avenue in Durham, North Carolina to alleviate unsafe traffic conditions at this intersection and throughout this heavily-traveled state road corridor.

Improving traffic at this intersection would benefit pedestrian and growing vehicular traffic along this corridor. Most importantly, the 4-way traffic signal would benefit the residents, churches and businesses in this area.
