North Ridgeville High School busing petition

We the parents of North Ridgeville request the City of North Ridgeville School System provide busing for High School Students. North Ridgeville is one of Northeast Ohio's fastest-growing residential communities and with that said this brings more students with a need for transportation to the high school.

There’s a safety factor, for High School students who are still minors and danger expecially when there are not sufficent sidewalks or walkways on rural roads. It poses a hardship on working parents who must find ways to deliver their kids to school on schedule. The safety issue cannot be underestimated because each year hundreds of students are killed walking or bicycling to and from school. Minors walking alone are the prey of choice for sexual predators.

Even with Safety Training some children are abducted. No bus routes to the High School without a simultaneous and planned effort to address student safety concerns will likely lead to greater traffic congestion, poorer air quality, and higher parent transportation costs due to an increase in parents driving children to school.

It is essential that school districts collaborate with parents and city officials to make it safer for children to get to school whether it be to walk, bicycle or to provide busing as we are proposing.
