Xena Warrior Princess was a supernatural adventure fantasy series that ran from 1995-2001. The story followed Xena (played by Lucy Lawless), a princess and mighty warrior in a quest to seek redemption for her past sins as a warlord by using her formidable fighting skills to help people.

Xena was accompanied by Gabrielle (played by Renee O'Connor), a naive farm girl who pleaded to join Xena on her journeys and became Xena's greatest ally, helping Xena to balance her evil past with insights and temperance. Both learned important lessons from the other. Xena taught Gabrielle about fighting and using her instincts which aided Gabrielle in a vast transformation from farm girl to Amazon Queen to a warrior. In kind, Gabrielle's purity, guidance, and spiritual quest inspired Xena to become a better person who was able to recognize and pursue fighting for the "greater good".

Xena was a breakout hit which went into syndication and aired in more than 108 countries around the world since 1998. It is ranked #10 on TV Guide's Top Cult Shows Ever and has an overall rating of 8.7 out of 10 on TV.com. Xena was named as the #1 Female Fantasy Character and Gabrielle #8 by sciencefiction.com in March of 2012. And Xena just Won the 2013 Half Price Books Tournament of Heroes out of 64 sci-fi/fantasy heroes as "The Bravest Hero Of All."

Xena led to the creation of comic books, toys, video games, commemorative coins, swords, clothing, animated movies, books about the series, and served as a spin-off for other films and projects. The Xena Fan Convention has continued to be held annually in California, as well as in several other countries. A "Rede Record de Televisão" tem tratado os fans do seriado "Xena: A Princesa Guerreira" sem nenhuma concideração. Viemos aqui pedir que essa situação mude.

1. O Seriado sofre cortes enormes e tem epsódios que são simplismente "excluidos" pela emissora.

2. O seriado não tem a sequencia de seus epsódios respeitada. Frequentemente ocorre de não seguirem a ordem e "pularem" vários epsódios.

3. O excesso de cortes em certos epsódios chega a ser rídiculo! Enquanto a emissora exibe cenas de violencia para crianças em "Pica-Pau", cortam simples cenas em "Xena: A Princesa Guerreira" sem nenhum remorso. um epsódio de 45min é exibido com apenas 20 ou 30min.

4. O seriado está aparentemente sem horário fixo. Hoje (18/11/2009), por razões desconhecidas, alguns estados puderam assistir a série às 17h e outros estados não. O seriado nem está constando na grade de programação exibida no site oficial da emissora! http://www.rederecord.com.br/. Uma total falta de concideração!

Per fortuna sono tantissimi i telefilm che godono in Italia del supporto digitale, siano essere serie nuove oppure serie vecchie. Manca però una serie televisiva storica, si tratta di "Xena, warrior princess" (TV Guide, la più autorevole rivista televisiva del mondo, l'ha inserita nella classifica dei 10 telefilm più cult della storia).

L'edizione DVD dei cofanetti della serie divisa per stagione è indispensabile per i fans anche e soprattutto perchè la serie in Italia è stata tartassata dalle censure (dialoghi completamente rifatti, situazioni smussate, sono stati cambiati i nomi di quasi tutti i protagonisti, alcuni episodi sono stati completamente saltati). Ovviamente nessuno di noi pretende il ri-doppiaggio dell'intera serie ci basta il doppio audio inglese-italiano, l'assenza di censure e la presenza di sottotitoli in italiano per chi non conosce l'inglese.

Attualmente in Italia sono disponibili solamente due DVD di Xena.
Si tratta di "Xena: friend in need - director's cut" e "Xena & Hercules".
