2. Heal The World Day

My name is Latonya Brown and I would like to introduce a resolution to the House of Representatives. Yesterday, we saw how the world came together in recognition of a legend. Michael Jackson has done so much for the world so much that Congressman Lee announced there's a resolution 600 that would name Michael Jackson A Humanitarian, LEGEND, and WORLD Icon.

Michael Jackson deserves a day of recognition for all of his humanitarian acts. I am no writer but I am a concerned fan and citizen. For years, people have misunderstood all that Michael Jackson was and is to so many. I think it's high time that he finally gets the respect that he truly deserves.

13. Save the Straight Up Scuplt & PITB Abs and Back Classes

August 1, 2006

It has come to our attention that Ballys Total Fitness, Bay/Bloor location, will be revamping the Group Exercise schedules.

We, the undersigned, would like to express our NEED (ok, deep desire) to continue to attend the Straight Up Scuplt & PITB Abs and Back Classes.

For most of us, these classes are a large part of why we continue to attend this gym. We love the results we achieve and how the instructors have an amazing ability to motivate us and always keep things fresh and challenging. Noted below you will find individual comments.

On a whole, we would like to see these two classes remain in their current day and time slots, if possible. If this is not possible, please try to keep them in the evening and back-to-back.

Thank you in advance for considering our comments.

14. More government support for Boy Scouts of America

July 12, 2006

In this petition it is clear that I want to bring back the goverment's influence on the Boy Scouts of America.

At the end of the last Boy Scouts Jamboree marking a 100 years of Boy Scouts, the Scouting organization was in formed that the U.S. Army National Guard would no longer be able to help run the event in future years due to the seperation of god and state. Thats a bunch of bull!

I am a boyscout at the age of 15 and would like to see the goverment's influence in the up coming jamborees because 1, they have been doing it through the years and 2nd, because they supply a lot of the supplies to make it happen so i would like to see them come back to help once again.

Thank you for your understanding.

To whom it many concern:

I/We, would like to submit this petition, in regard to the dismissal of Jeff O'Connor's position/role as Building/Property Manager, care taker, etc. to a number of properties located in Ocean Beach California.

It is to our understanding, Mr. O'Connor has been relieved as our Property Manager on Sunday, June 17, 2006, due to one of the 'Tenants' retaining legal council against Mr. O'Connor.

We would like to take time to express our dispute and ask your reconsideration in this matter. Mr. O'Connor has been more than just a building manager to most of us and are very displeased with this rash decision.

17. Petition for Midyear Reports at PCPS

June 13, 2006

For the second year in a row, parents at Point Clare Public School will NOT be receiving a midyear report on their child's progress.

The only written report being offered to the parent community is the end of year report.

The Department of Education's Policy entitled "Curriculum planning and programming, assessing and reporting to parents K-12" states that: Schools will provide parents/carers with a written report on their child's learning at least twice per year. The components of the written report will meet the Policy Standards. (section 1.3.3).

Written reports are valuable tools for parents to gauge how their child is performing, and to highlight any issues that their child is having within the classroom environment. For parents who work out of the home full time and who are unable to attend class interviews, a written report can be the first indication of any problem their child is having.

It is unacceptable to make this decision without informing the parent community and without asking for our input.

In accordance with this, we would like to ask you to sign this petition, if you would like to have a midyear written report for your child.

20. Re-zone Sime and Brownell land Commercial

April 28, 2006

Away to Learn, Inc. is interested in building a child care center on this particular property and is meeting with opposition from the neighbors. They feel that we would bring in too much traffic to the area.

The benefits to building on this property is that we are close to the local factories where many of our families work. We would also be close to firemans park, the city swimming pool, and library.

We would like to utilize these more and would be within walking distance of any of these.

23. Abolish Assesment Feedback Boycott at UWE

April 6, 2006

For those of you who are not aware, certain lecturers within UWE are currently on a feedback boycott; meaning they are willing to mark work but they are not willing to provide students with their marks or any appropriate feedback in a formal manner.

For those of you about to graduate this could mean that you do not receive formal classification of your degree. For those of you in your first and second year this could mean that progression onto your next year, any masters application and even module choice options could be hindered.

The action is being carried out because certain union members feel their pay should be higher and they feel the best way to achieve this rise is to carry out the above mentioned action.

I am not against strike action but I am against students being used as pawns in pay dispute claims; if you would like to see this action ended and if you would like to receive feedback and module grades please sign this petition.
