.......................................

Whilst searching www.gobletoffire.com I searched the general release dates for all countries when to my horror I found that whilst all English filmgoers get to see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire on Nov 18th, the Germans and Filipinos get to see it on NOVEMBER 17TH.

162. Sack Ricky Ponting - Australian Cricket Captain

The unsporting behavior of the National Cricket Captain of Australia is a disgrace to Australia and also for the spirit of the game of Cricket.

Mr. Ricky Ponting the present Captain of Australian Cricket Team displayed his loutish behaviour again in the 4th Ashes Test Match and displyed to the world that how weak he and his team is when losing.

When He was run out by substitute player Gary Pratt of the England Team, Mr. Ponting got into an argument against it with the umpire and with some players of the England Team and later he was fined 75% of the match fee by the match Referee.

When the ICC had set rules and regulations for the game of cricket, it is the duty of the players to follow them. When players like Mr. Ricky Ponting tries to overrule, then what's the role does the governing body play?

Over to you Mr. Ehsan Mani, The President of International Cricket Council (ICC).

163. CLAIM BACK OUR ROADS

This petition is launched after the death of our son Christopher Osborne on the A1307 at Horseheath Cambridge on the 18th July 2004.

Christopher was hit head on and was killed instantly by an out of control F reg Vauxhall Nova modified with a 2 litre engine that crossed the carriageway. The driver of the Vauxhall was charged with causing death by dangerous driving but was only found guilty of the lesser charge of careless driving. He was fined and banned from driving for 1 year.

We feel this in no way reflects the severity of his crime and the loss of our son's life and future. Christopher was an innocent third party. Since this accident we are now accutely aware that many other families are suffering as we are. Their relatives and friends have also been slaughtered on our roads and pavements whilst doing no wrong.

We feel that the law must be changed to defend innocent victims. The notion that careless action can result in death is utter nonsense and the charge of death by dangerous driving is un-attainable since the only witness now lies dead.

We are calling for a charge of Vehicular Manslaughter carrying a custodial sentence when an innocent third party is killed.

164. Stop apologising for being English

There's nothing wrong with being English!

It's about time we got over this pathetic idea we need to perpetually crucify and victimise ourselves in the media.

The ordinary English taxpayer gives millions to Africa, pays billions in income support for asylum seekers, and is in general warm and welcoming. So why are we so quick to give ourselves a hard time and feel guilty about national pride?

Come on England! If we had been so wimpy in the past we wouldn't have had an empire in the first place, let alone had the nerve to take on Napoleon and Hitler.

166. Hands Off Our Lottery

Update December 19, 2005

The petition was delivered to Number 10 Downing Street on the morning of the 19th of December 2005. We are following up with press. More details will be provided in due course.

.................................................

Help to Inspire a Cultural Renaissance in Britain.

The Government's proposed National Lottery Bill will turn the national lottery into a STEALTH TAX.

The National Lottery Bill allows the Government to shore up its failings by taking lottery money away from good causes to plug gaps in departmental budgets.

The creation of a Big Lottery Fund will take fifty percent of the money raised for good causes by the National Lottery. It will deprive the areas that it was set up to support - arts, sports, charities and heritage.

167. Stop Center Parcs destroying Millbrook Warren Wood (Steppingley-Millbrook axis) in BEDS

Result and Thank You (Aug 27, 2006)

The petition with over 550 signatures from GoPetition and around 600 collected via leaflets and face to face, helped us put a stop to Centreparcs development plans by highlighting the non-existing benefits, traffic increase and most of all the fact that this development would have destroyed Green Belt Land and set a dangerous precedent in Bedfordshire for Cowboy developments.

June 5, 2005

Center Parcs, the well known holiday village company has submitted an outline planning application to add a 5th UK village to it's portfolio by turning Green Belt Land/Area of outstanding landscape value/County wildlife site; Warren Wood (located next to A507 between Ampthill and Flitwick)into 750+ cottage site where buildings, roads and car parks take on their own destroy 27 acres of natural woodland.

Different to other Center Parc sites where the holiday villages only occupy parts of big forests (and none built on Green Belt land), this time they would be taking all of this relatively small forest, a county wildlife site and area of outstanding landscape value, not to mention it's recreational value. An area where children, teenagers and adults can enjoy country walks and watch wildlife such as muntjac deer, badgers, foxes and hares to mention a few.

This all would be gone if they get their way.

UPDATE - THIS PETITION WILL CLOSE ON THE 15TH OF AUGUST 2006...

Early July 2006 Mid Bedfordshire Planning Committee Planning Officials rejected an application by Center Parcs to build its fifth holiday village at Warren Wood, near Woburn, in Bedfordshire.
The council had previously received 1,029 signatures and 172 letters objecting to the scheme in comparison with only eight letters in support.

Thank you all for signing the petition ! Wishing you all a great summer, enjoy the weather and Green Belt Land !!

168. Stop UK Dog & Cat Fur Trading

All across Asia and China, dogs and cats are kept in horrible conditions and then killed in the most horrific and inhumane ways, just so they can be used for fur. But this fur is making its way into our country, yes the UK, in fact it may even well be in your home, without you knowing as it is never correctly labelled, and may even be labelled as fake fur.

So please save the millions of innocent dog and cat lives by signing this petition now, once this petition is complete it will be mailed to the Houses Of Parliament, and maybe we could stop this awful trade in the UK at least.

169. Work holiday on your birthday

January 14, 2005

We have less bank holidays in the UK than most western countries.

If we added one more flexible day, on your birthday, you could plan your birthday day, have a good time and feel better about your employers and the world.

You should also be encouraged to spend the day contemplating past achievements and make plans for the future.

170. Save the Manchester MetroLink

The labour government have once again shown their true colours, and despite having formally approved the Manchester Metrolink extension in 2000, have now suddenly cancelled all 3 planned lines. At the same time, approval was given to the £10billion light rail system in London - a city already many times better served with public transport - and costing some 20 times the amount required for the Metrolink.
At a time when Tony Blair is making big noises on how improving public transport is a key policy, and after millions of pounds in preparation, houses getting compulsory purchased and preparations all but completed - this is nothing short of disgusting. Manchester has been promised this vital extension by the same people who are still in power, and it is totally unacceptable to make this yet another broken labour pledge and another kick in the teeth for the people living outside London.
