1. Free Ogyen Trinley Dorje - His Holiness The 17th Karmapa
Indian National Congress
Congress President, Sonia Gandhi
24 Akbar Road
New Delhi, India
110011
Dear Respected Sonia Gandhi,
We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about His Holiness the Karmapa, Orgyen Trinley Dorje who has been living in exile in India since 2000. As he is not a criminal, but is in fact an important spiritual teacher for the entire world, this confinement contravenes the fundamental principles to the preservation of human dignity and respect for universal, fundamental and ethical principles. We call on you to secure his immediate and unconditional release.
In article 51 (c) of The Constitution of India it states; "the State [India] shall endeavor to foster respect for international law and treaty obligations in the dealings of organized peoples with one another.” You have also stated; "The Indian National Congress has always represented a secular, democratic, just and inclusive India, an India that is empowering the disadvantaged and the discriminated, an India that is blending tradition with modernity is anchored in unity amidst its many diversities."
We respectfully request the Government of India to adhere to its commitment to democracy and provide the permission necessary for the Karmapa to travel abroad, now and in the future. We seek a diplomatic solution that will allow the Karmapa to fulfill his spiritual responsibilities through his presence in thousands of centers and monasteries all over the world. We call for Orgyen Trinley Dorje’s immediate and unconditional release from confinement in India.
The International community stands together in concurrence for the Karmapa’s human right to individual freedom of expression and action.
2. Strengthen the Nepali / Tibetan Rug Industry
Strengthen the Nepali/Tibetan Rug Industry and Enhance Livelihoods for Nepali/Tibetan Refugee Weavers and Artisans
The economic potential of the Nepali carpet industry became clear towards the end of the last decade. In the mid 1990’s, the industry employed almost one million people, accounted for a third of Nepal’s exports, was the largest supplier of foreign currency, and brought approximately 1300 - 1000 crore Nepali Rupees into the economy each year.
Today the industry has shrunk by over 70% as local manufacturers, experienced artisan weavers, and carpet importers move their production into India and China to escape the unstable production situation, hostile business environment, and the local disturbances that have become increasingly present in the Kathmandu Valley. This situation has led to a significant and continual decline in production standards since 2000, causing the quality of Nepal’s yarn production and weaving to fall dramatically. Because of this decline, Nepal is losing its hard earned reputation as a leader in the hand-knotted carpet industry and its valuable share of international end markets.
The decreased importance of the Nepali carpet industry is visibly reducing the industry’s role in the country’s economic and social development. Nepal’s exports have proven to be strongly and positively correlated to economic growth. The Nepali carpet industry plays an important role in this as seen by its near 30% share of Nepal’s total exports and its direct contribution to approximately 3% of Nepal’s GDP in 2004/2005.
Increased domestic support for this industry can once again raise exports, increase revenue for the national government, and foster skill development and advancement for even the lowest paid workers. It also presents the government with an opportunity for economic growth and diversification through an already established industry.
The carpet industry should continue to play a critical role in Nepal’s social development and rural poverty reduction. Workers in Nepal’s carpet factories are an important source for domestic remittances being sent into the countryside. This type of remittance flow was shown, in a 2003 World Bank study of the Nepali economy, to have a powerful and direct effect on reducing rural poverty.
To sustain and maximize on the economic and social benefits of the industry, we propose that there is an immediate need for a more productive, secure, and corruption free work environment within the Nepali carpet industry. As end market users and importers of this wonderful product, we hereby petition the Nepali Government to recognize and take action on the following necessary points for change: labor regulation, export promotion, quality certification, investment climate, labor union policies.
Details are outlined on the following page.
With focused and properly directed intervention, the carpet industry has the potential to play a vital role in Nepal’s development. The industry has shown that it can directly foster economic development while increasing the effectiveness of the government’s work to reduce national poverty. We believe that given the support proposed in this petition, the Nepali carpet industry will once again become an important source for national revenue, social development, and the preservation of centuries old artisan techniques.
3. President Obama: Meet With The Dalai Lama
President Obama has decided to delay his meeting with His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in November so he does not upset the Chinese who will be visiting shortly after The Dalai Lama's visit.
At this time, it is very crucial that President Obama meet with The Dalai Lama in hopes of keeping lines of communication open about the situation in Tibet.
4. Stop Gadimai
Can you picture 7,000 young buffaloes being rounded up and killed by a thousand drunk men carrying large knives? A festival where 200,000 animals are killed to please a goddess?
This is exactly what -if nothing is done- will happen from November 24, 2009, onwards in Nepal. The Gadimai Festival in Bariyarpur, Bara District, is held each 5 years. The mass sacrifice turns the entire area into a marshy land of blood. The Animal Welfare Network Nepal together with Anti-sacrifice Alliance want to end this bloody, cruel practice.

5. Free Tibet
Dear President of China,
the world can no longer see what you do with the people in Tibet so we will say FREE Tibet NOW.
Please respect us and make Tibet FREE.
Lhasa Beer USA imports 'Lhasa Beer' from a communist Chinese business (the Lhasa Brewing Company Limited) based in occupied Tibet, a nation which suffers the most appalling human rights abuses and suppression. Buying Lhasa Beer in the USA supports that company and allows it to expand its production inside occupied Tibet. China uses many forms of oppressing Tibetans, and making cheap alcohol widely available is one insidious method of undermining Tibetan culture. Lhasa Beer is part of that process.

7. Local Boycott of Chinese Goods
The U.S. government released a report on the human rights situation in China which can be found here; http://www.state.gov/g/drl/rls/hrrpt/2008/eap/119037.htm.
It resounds with stories of unfair trials resulting in sentences of immediate execution for "sedition", information restrictions, extrajudicial killings, imprisonment without notifying family, trafficking in people, severe worker's rights violations and many more terrible things.
This government is allowed these abuses because of the focus on trade and economic ties instead of human life and rights.
8. Soutien aux tibétains /
9. Offener Brief an Jacques Rogge (IOC)

10. Support Tibetan Independence 2008
Since the 1950's, Tibet has been under control of the Chinese rule and Communism.
China promised to bring fair treatment, however, all what happended in Tibet was a Major Disaster and still ongoing.
Many protesters agansit the Chinese rule have been killed or Injured.
However, Tibet is Recognized by most countries including the US and the United Nations.Meaning they can get independence.
However, most recenltley, the Chinese army have done mayhem on Tibet and plan to do more and "Crush" the Tibetian Independence Army.
If we must, we must declare war, or we must BOTYCOTT anything made by Chinese Companys. And also boycott things such as Chinese food, The 2008 Beijing Olympics, Planned Sport Tortuments in China, Chinese products, and more.
Support this if you agree!
Tibet, a region in East China, has been under the Chinese Goverment since the 1950's, and all it did was bring some disaster.
Tibet is suffering and China does not let them even practice there religon.
The Chinese Goverment has gone way too far.
Boycott China. It's the only way to free Tibet.
So what to do is, Boycott China. Do not buy any Chinese food, products made by Chinese companys, or do not Watch the 2008 Olympics or as simple as it is, do not Explore China.
We only want China to free Tibet. Again no offense to the Chinese.
If you agree, then sign this now!
12. Boycott China until Tibet is free!
Tibet has been under Communist Chinese rule since the 1950's. The Chinese authorities use brute force against anyone who resists Chinese rule.
As I am writing this, I am watching News 24. The Chinese have given the Tibetan protestors until Monday (17th March 2008) to pipe down, or "face the consequences". If do calm down by then, the Chinese have promised to "be lenient" with them.
This doesn't seem like a very strong compromise to me. Actually, if I'm honest, I have a nasty feeling they simply mean the difference between a quick painless death or a slow agonizing one.
The above mentioned issue is only one of the problems China should be dealing with. Other examples include female infanticide, over-population, and the very real danger of giant pandas going extinct.
To show you care about any of these things, please boycott China until Tibet is free, and we are on the way to solving the other problems. Do not visit China unnecessarily, buy Chinese food, watch the Beijing Olympics 2008, or support the Chinese economy in any way. By doing this, you can show China the way towards a fairer society: the way of peace.
In 2008 the BBC shamefully broadcast, 'A Year in Tibet', as Tibetans, who took to the streets and demanded independence for their nation, were being gunned down by Chinese security forces.

Covert Photograph of Tibetans Shot at Ngaba-16th March 2008
"Eight dead bodies brought into Ngaba Kirti Monastery according to confirmed information received by the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy. The bodies were brought in from the protest scene in Ngaba, Kham (so-called Sichuan Province). Sources say at least "30 Tibetans felled" after armed troops shot indiscriminately into the peacefully protesting Tibetans." (Released By TCHRD-Sunday, March 16, 2008 19:35]
Mr Richard Klein, BBC commissioned Mosaic Films and Sevenstones Media to produce 'A Year in Tibet', which BBC Four first screened at 21.00 on 6th March 2008, the final episode shown on 3rd April.

The series was produced and written by Mr. Peter Firstbrook. The locational Director was Ms. Sun Shuyun, a Chinese writer and film-maker. The film claims to be an 'observational documentary', following a year in the life of Gyantse, Tibet's third largest town.
The contents and style of this programme portray a seemingly contented and thriving culture, untouched it would appear by the odious excesses of Communist Chinese occupation. It is a troubling achievement for a film crew to document daily living in such circumstances, yet fail to include any reference to the cultural and political oppression, which has operated inside Tibet since China's invasion in 1950.
The timing of this series too was curious, coming just several months before Beijing launched the 2008 Olympic Games, an event which attracted international concern and oppostion relating to China's appalling human rights record, and its brutal suppression of the Tibetan and Uyghur people.
Such political realities do not feature in 'A Year in Tibet', which carefully avoids any issues of sensitivity by assembling a stereotypical and idyllic image of life inside Tibet. Internationally there is genuine and widespread concern at the plight of Tibet. Such opinion will be surprised and disappointed to note a film which lacks fundamental journalistic standards, such as balance, independence, accuracy and critique.
In 2009 the communist Chinese regime allowed it to be screened across China, thus confirming the film's propagana credentials. More here: http://tibettruth.wordpress.com/2009/07/19/communist-china-to-screen-bbc-whitewash-of-tibet/
14. Support the Global Human Rights Torch Relay
www.humanrightstorch.org
An international campaign that seeks to bring an end to all human rights abuses against the people of China, while highlighting the persecution of Falun Gong - the most severely persecuted group in China today.
During the run up to the 2008 Olympics, the HRTR will host events in 37 countries across six continents to present its message: The Olympics and crimes against humanity cannot coexist in China.
The Tibetan, Burmese, and Vietnamese communities, the Darfur Support Network (Sudan), Chinese democracy groups, student groups, former Olympians, and representatives from sports and politics are among the relay participants.

17. Free Tibet
For over more than 50 years the tibetan people have been occupied by the chinese governemant.
This occupation has led to the repressement and the torture of more than the threemillion tibetan people. for over 1.2million tibetan people has already die during the chinese occupation.
The beautiful culture of tibet was nearly destroyed when chinese soldiers burnt many temples and buildings who are are crucial for the religion and culture of tibet.
Still now the chinese gouvernement motivates chinese people to live in tibet by giving them bounties, wich leads to the financial repression of the tibetan people.
Still today, the tibetan people have little rights. They can't critisize the chinese gouvernement, they can't talk to tourists, they may not have picture of His Holiness The Dalai Lama...
Many people live still in foreign countries because they're afraid to go back. Even H.H The Dalai Lama isn't safe if he goes back.
That's why we have to make sure that the UN and other international organisations cause an international pressure upon China to make sure the Tibetan people can live in peace and harmony whit their religion.
I ask you to please sign this petition to end the chinese occupation.
Thank you!
18. The U.S. Should Support Independence for Taiwan
The United States ought to adjust its policy & oppose communist China's attempts to take over Taiwan.
Taiwan is a stable and prosperous democracy, and the United States should recognize Taiwan's freedom and sovereignty.
19. Stop Execution Tenzin Delek Rimpoche scheduled 2nd Dec
Tenzin Delek Rinpoche is a highly revered monk in Tibet. In April 2002 Tenzin Delek Rinpoche and Lobsang Dhondup were arrested and charged with involvement in a series of explosions in Sichuan Province. They were held incommunicado until their December 2002 trial, where they were convicted of "conspiring to cause a series of explosions" and "incitement to separatism," and sentenced to death.
On January 26, 2003, the Sichuan Provincial Court rejected Tenzin Delek Rinpoche's appeal. Lobsang Dhondup was executed the same day. Tenzin Delek Rinpoche is currently being held in Tuandong Prison, Sichuan.
The circumstances surrounding this case indicate that the prosecution of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche is politically motivated. He built monasteries, schools and homes for the elderly in his community in eastern Tibet. His leadership outside the Communist Party made him a political target.
To date, the Chinese authorities have not produced any credible evidence of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche's involvement in the explosions, and the prosecutions have not met minimum standards of due process. On January 18, a smuggled tape made by Tenzin Delek Rinpoche asserted, "Whatever the authorities do and say, I am innocent."
We ask for your help to save Tenzin Delek Rinpoche from execution:
1. Send a message your Senators. Please contact your Senators and urge them to add their name to Senate Resolution 365, which calls for the release of Tenzin Delek Rinpoche. If you are not a US Citizen or are not represented by a US Senator, please consider sending an email to Li Zhaoxing (the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs) and ask him to release Tenzin Delek Rinpoche.
2. Send a message to your friends. Please contact your friends, let them know about this gross breach of justice, and urge them to take action to push for Tenzin Delek Rinpoche's release..
3. Support the International Campaign for Tibet and our efforts to free all Tibetan political prisoners.
Thank you
20. Release the Kidnapped Panchen Lama of Tibet (Gedun Choekyi Nyima)
The 11th Panchen Lama of Tibet (Gedun Choekyi Nyima) was born on April 25, 1989. In May 1995 Gedun Choekyi Nyima was 6 years old when he and his parents were kidnapped from their home in Tibet by the Chinese government. Widely known as the World's Youngest Political Prisoner, he has been missing for almost 9 years.
In Tibet, Panchen Lama is a title like Vice-President or Prime Minister. Panchen means Great Scholar and Lama means Religious Teacher.
This missing boy will grow up to be a great leader if released and allowed to pursue his religious studies in freedom.
So please add your signature to this petition for the speedy release of the 11th Panchen Lama. Thank you for your support.
21. End Human Rights Violations in Tibet
For the last 50 years, Tibetans have been tortured and imprisoned by the Chinese. Many have fled their country to save their lives. In order to destroy the Tibetan culture, the Chinese are systematically aborting Tibetan children and sterilizing Tibetan women. 60% of the population of Tibet is ethnic Chinese. The killing will not end until the Tibetans are completely destroyed. Do not let this happen. Please help.
