61. Parole Protest against Jason Allen Hayes

I am writing this letter of protest against Jason Allen Hayes, TDCJ #01046470, date of birth 6-15-1975.

On June 12, 2001 he was sentenced to senven years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justic, Institutional Division. As of November 22, 2004, Jason is eligible for parole.

Having pled Guilty to aggravated sexual assault of a Child not only of his own son, but also his ex-wife's little sister, Jason Hayes should serve the full length of time he was originally sentenced. A child molester that is sentenced for only seven years is not rehabilitated in that small lengh of time. What is seven years compared to a lifetime of instability, guilty feelings, insecurity, and low self-esteem that Hason has inflicted on these two small children's lives?

We the people of one of the abused children, residents of our community, and Panola County, Texas law enforcement would like to enter a petition against the possibility of Jason Allen Hayes receiving parole.

63. Stop animal dissection in Texas schools now!

I want you to sign this petition to stop animal dissection in schools. I think that it's immoral and choose not to do it. At the moment, if I don't dissect a frog, baby pig, or a cows' eye I will fail my class. It shoudn't be required that you dissect an animal.

You should at least be able to do it online! It is against my morals to dissect somthing that was alive at one point in time.

64. Parole Protest - Robert Sanchez TDCJ # 00531913

In the very early morning hours of March 11, 1989 Balcones Heights (Texas) Police Officer Richard Scott Rogiers was shot twice in the head after making a "routine" traffic stop and died nearly 24 hours later on March 12. The man Officer Rogiers pulled over for speeding that fateful morning was Robert Sanchez. Sanchez was convicted of capital murder and is currently serving life in prison (TDCJ #00531913, SID #02701316).

During the trial, Bexar County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Vincent DiMaio pointed out that the first shot was a stunning, but non-fatal blow to the side of the head, which would have caused Officer Rogiers to fall to his knees. At that point, Sanchez could have chosen to flee, leaving Officer Rogiers injured but alive. Instead, while Officer Rogiers was on his hands and knees, Sanchez chose to deliberately fire the second, fatal shot at point-blank range, execution style, to the back of the head.

Officer Rogiers, better known at "Scottie", was 2 weeks shy of his 30th birthday when he was murdered. He left behind a wife of nearly 6 years and a 2 ½ year old son, along with numerous relatives and friends. He had served on the Balcones Heights Police Department for 6 years. Scottie was a loving and caring man who was very dedicated to his family and profession. He was passionately committed to the service of protecting and defending the citizens of Balcones Heights in San Antonio, Texas. He was not a man who deserved to have his life cut short, especially in such a brutal manner.

Robert Sanchez has currently served only 14 1/2 years of his life sentence for the brutal, cold-blooded murder of Officer Rogiers. Sanchez is eligible for parole on March 9, 2004 and was placed into the parole review process on September 9, 2003.

Robert Sanchez is a man capable of cold bloodedly murdering a police officer. He is a man who completely lacks regard for humanity and a man not worthy of rejoining society. He is NOT a man who should serve the minimum sentence for his horrible crime, but rather a man who should die in prison.

67. Re-instate Officer Paul Marshall

An off duty Police officer in Lubbock Texas responded when three men tried to run over his cat with a truck. He grabbed the driver (his neighbor) by the throat and lectured him for about a minute. He was placed on admin leave pending a week "investigation".
He was then forced to resign after 15 years of exemplary service. His attornies informed Ofc. Paul that the D.A. did not wish to prosecute, but did so under pressure from the Lubbock Chief of Police, Claude Jones. There has been considerable public outcry over this event, and the LPD is not responding in any way.

68. Petition for speed humps on Elderberry Drive, Austin Texas

Elderberry Drive in Austin, Texas, has a very long history of speeding vehicles at all times of the day and night. This area is a residential street with a very large number of small children and Adults. The children of the area uses this street as thier safe haven.

Elderberry residents have also been the victims of randoms drive-by shootings. Their vehicles have had their windows shot out. We believe that the installation of speed humps will greatly deter traffic through our neighborhood and help return a feeling of security and a peace of mind to the families in the area.

Please take a moment to sign this petition via email. Pass it along to the other residents in the neighborhood.

Thank You for supporting these improvements to our neighborhood.

This petition has been created to inform the world of the sensless acts often committed by men. Oscar Stephen III has successfully taken a precious member of my family. In retribution of that act, my family and I desire to ensure he gets the maximum penalty allowed by the State of Texas. Murderers must know that while they may be forgiven for such crimes, it does not exonerate them from serving the required amount of time regardless of good behavior.

71. Drinking and Driving Education in Texas

The first place to start regarding increased knowledge and education of drinking and driving as a problem with significant consequences rests before the college years. Middle school and high school administrations only minimally touch the surface in educating young children. For example, Students against Drunk Driving (SADD) is an organization in which students join and sign a written contract stating that no matter the circumstance, he/she will phone home for a ride rather than drive, if intoxicated. It has been argued by parents and educators that such types of organizations essentially promote underage drinking. However, the fact of the matter is that the contemporary mentality among many school age children is that drinking is cool and getting behind the wheel after having a drink can inevitably be observed across the country. Thus, organizations such as SADD serve as accident prevention rather than drinking promotion.

A severe limitation of such programs is that they are optional. SADD is an extra-curricular club that students may opt to join. Having compulsory meeting times in which social issues such as drinking and driving are addressed can help increase awareness among school age children and better prepare them for responsible decision making in college. Additionally, a student petition by students at the University of Texas-Austin would aid in alerting school officials of the need for greater education in middle and high school age children, in preparation for college and its increased liberties.

72. Stop the Texas Slaughter of Horses to be Sold as Delicacies in France, Belgium, Germany and Japan

Texas House Bill 1324 introduced by Rep. Betty Brown (R-Kaufman) has passed the House vote and, if passed in the Texas Senate, will make legal the slaughter of horses for human consumption in foreign countries.

There are two slaughterhouses in Texas: The Beltex in Fort Worth is owned by a Belgium company and the Dallas Crown in Kaufman, by a French company. All profits from horse slaughter in Texas go to those companies.

In 2002 over 42,000 healthy horses were inhumanely transported and inhumanely killed to provided *delicacies* abroad.

Texans have not only a long and rich history with horses but continue to enjoy a working, recreational, and caring relationship with horses.

How can we, in this great state, allow such irresponsible, unethical, immoral treatment of a creature who has provided us with immeasurable benefits.

Do we as human beings owe our anumals such treatment. What in the world are our legislators thinking!

Please join us on May 9 in Austin to protest the signing of this bill into law.

Please sign this petition to present to State Senator Steve Ogden by May 5, 2003 to protest this despicable bill.

79. Drugged and Beaten Child receives no justice

My Son is an 11 year old Honor Student Attending Vidor Middle School in Vidor Texas.

My son has been subjected to much abuse this year. He was held down and beaten by two students. The students recieved no punishment for their actions. Two weeks later the Two students took their hatred one step further.

They crushed up sleeping pills at home and mixed it into a food coloring mixture brought the mixture to school and slipped it in my sons juice at lunch.

Charges were pressed... but the charges were dropped by the Orange County District Attorney stating that it is not illegal to put over the counter sleeping drugs in someones drink even if they are not aware of it. The District Attorney compared it to sticking one's finger in another person's drink.

Please help us send a message to the District Attorney's office to re-open the case before this happens again or happens to another child.

80. Opposition to Resolution S.R. 02 (S) 4

Members of the TAMU Student Senate have come up with a resolution opposing the candidacy of Dr. Spear for the position of Director of Health Services. The resolution has inaccurate "facts" and is bias against Pro-choice believers. The resolution basically says that some one advocating pro-choice "extremes" should not have an influential position such as Director of Healh Services in the conservative community of Texas A&M.

Many people have spoken out in petitions and e-mails supporting this resolution, but the voices of the people who are opposed to this resolution need to be heard also. Senators say they will vote according to what the majority of their constituents think, so we need to show the Senate that many people are opposed to this resolution and to also take that into consideration when it is time to vote.

82. Urgent Appeal Bob Coulson Death Row

We would like to bring to your attention the case of : ROBERT O. COULSON. WE BELIEVE ROBERT IS INNOCENT!!! The case against Robert is of 100% circumstantial, the WEAKEST kind of case there is. There is NO direvt evidence linking Robert to the murders. There is :
- NO DNA or forensic evidence linking Robert to the murders;
- NO fingerprints or eyewitness placing Robert at the scene of the crime;
- NO written or tape recorded confessions from Robert;
- NO cuts, scratches or marks of any kind on Robert the day after the murders.

We are profoundly troubled by the floolowing facts in this case:
- the courts have NOT granted Robert a new trial even though prosectors have ADMITTED presenting false evideence in his trial;
- new evidence which strongly attacks and discredits a large part of the case against Robert was NOT admissable in his appeal;
- additional new evidence was NOT admissable in his appeal;
- additional new evidence was NOT found in time to be used in Robert's appeal;
- the star witness against Robert :
* had the mental age of 13 (at age 23) when he lied and pointed the finger atRobert:
* gave four different stories after police accused him of committing the murders;
* failed a lie detector test on the story that sent Robert to Death Row
*is a habitual liar and has NO credibility in this case against Robert;
-Robert has NEVER been charged with a crime prior to his WRONGFUL arrest in this case.

Along with our genuine sympathy for the family and friend of the victims, we, the undersigned, are also extremely concerned that as Robert grieves the horrible loss of his family a terrible injustice has been done to him. We believe Robert is an innocent man who has been wrongly convicted. In the interest of truth and jsutice we urge the State of Texas to:
GRANT ROBERT O. COULSON A FULL AND UNCONDITONAL PARDON

83. Prevent TX dolphinarium from being built

Wild dolphins live on average about 45 years and swim 40 to 100 miles per day. In captivity, very few dolphins will survive to see their 15th year, are confined to their tanks and some are forced to interact with visitors who feed them dead fish for up to 14 hours a day.

The Texas State Aquarium claims they want to rehabilitate dolphins, however they have no plans to release the animals or to prepare them for a life in the wild. An alternative to dolphin tanks is sea pens, where dolphins can live in the ocean, chase live fish and avoid further exploitation.
