Petition Tag - species
Humans have always oppressed other species, whether they are animals, or non-human humanoids. It's particularly hard on non-human humanoids, as we are forced to pretend to be human, sometimes even by our own families.
We can only walk around freely if other people believe we're human. Why can't we use our supernatural powers in public, if we have them? Or be acknowledged as whichever species we are? Or freely talk about any spirit friends we may have? Or acknowledge pets and spirits as family members? And why have only 'Human Rights'? I'm also angry about animals not being referred to as people, when they clearly are. And when they are murdered, it's called 'unnecessary suffering', which is ridiculous, and their murderer gets a slap on the wrist. I'm fed up about all of this.
2. Preservation of Bushland at Edith Cowan University
Edith Cowan University management have no plans to maintain the majority of bushland areas on the university grounds. It is likely that these areas will be flattened for future development.
Why is this important?
- ECU campuses are known for their iconic Australian bushland surroundings.
- There are currently no intentions to preserve extensive areas of existing bushland at ECU Joondalup campus.
- Urbanisation is a major contributing factor toward climate change, clearing native bushland areas will promote an environmentally irresponsible image for ECU in this respect.
- The bushland areas support a range of native wildlife.
- The surrounding bushland at ECU provide a positive and relaxing learning environment for students.
- These areas are valued by the community outside of ECU.
Ensure the continued existence of bushland areas at all Edith Cowan University campuses by signing the online petition for protected Edith Cowan University bushland areas.
3. The Reformation to the Marijuana/Cannabis Prohibition
The following citizens of the State of New York, hereby demand the legalization of the non-monitored, mildly-regulated use of Cannabis sativa. The disapprovement marijuana has seemingly shrunk; the approval of Cannabis has seemingly increased.
4 Dams
16 Weirs
21 Kms Mammoth Tunnel
Over 200 Acres of Concrete Structure….are set to cut the throat of Western Ghats.
Over 18 villages will be submerged; over 800 hectares of forest will be destroyed
Destruction of the Western Ghats will not only cause decimation of biodiversity but also accelerate the impact of global warming.
5. Only 20 Christmas Island Pipistrelles left in the world: Save this Bat Species Now
The PIpistrellus murrayi is a species of vesper bat belonging to the Vespertilionidae family.
This animal is found only on Christmas Island and there are only 20 indivduals left - this little bat is the size of a quarter and they are covered in fur - they are living in a tree that is dead and they desperately need human intervention to survive.
The Australian authorities do not care that this little creature immediate rescue to prevent extinction.
Without prompt attention these little fuzzies will be lost before the end of 2009.
Manatees are magnificent marine mammals. However, they are very fragile. We need to do more to protect the manatees. It is estimated that 25% of all Florida manatee deaths are due to boating accidents. That is unfathomable.
There needs to be more signs to steer boaters away from manatees. If there is an area that is frequently inhabited by manatees, then that area should prohibit any boaters from entering. No more “Caution” signs. There are way too many reckless boaters out there that, if cautioned, would still be too inattentive. All caution zones should be changed into no entry zones.
Way too many manatees are dying due recklessness and it needs to stop!
Millions of hectares of natural rainforest in Indonesia are being destroyed, right as you read this, for palm oil plantations.
Not only is this detrimental for the environment, but for the animals that require this forest for homes and habitats.
Two endangered species, the orangutan and the Sumatran Tiger, are being driven from their homes, forced into villages looking for food and shelter, where they are captured and killed.
8. Stop Illegal Chinese Trade in Black Rhino Horn
Black rhino are classified as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List 2002 and listed on Appendix I of CITES.
Latest findings indicate that there are only around 3600 black rhino remaining worldwide.
However, trade in black rhino horn and its by-products continues in the far east, namely China; even though such trade is prohibited under CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species).
This is because some Chinese people believe the horn has medicinal value.
There is absolutely no scientific evidence to indicate that the horn, which is made up of a substance similar to hair, has any medical value.
This means that this proud and majestic species has been poached to near extinction for no legitimate reason. Since 1960, the population has fallen from around 70,000; around 96% over less than 50 years.
While rhino populations have increased recently, much of the remaining species must be kept in some level of captivity, or dehorned to deter poaching.
It is sad that an animal of such grandeur is killed for something so small. It is sadder still that this only occurs through the greed and ignorance of a small global minority.
As an increasingly developed and modern society, I believe that the People Republic of China should take action to stop this illegal, but more so, immoral trade.

March 27th Update
In correspondence with numerous organisations, I have frequently been asked why I have chosen only to petition for the black rhino. There are many reasons for this choice, although I do understand why people ask! All five of the rhino species are affected by the same Chinese and wider eastern Asian trade. The Javan Rhinoceros for example, is currently in a far more dire position with only 100 individuals remaining; the Sumatran with only 400, the Indian with 2000 and the White with around 11000. However, I felt that the Black rhino better highlighted the issue. It is the best known of the five species, and as a mammal originating from Africa, emphasises the relationship between China’s actions and the global community, without the argument of sovereign ownership that applies to the Asian species. Ultimately, all the rhinoceros species are effected by the same trade, and to end one is to end them all!

April 16th Update
For those interested in the subject of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), ‘A world apart’ (WWF, IUCN, TRAFFIC) will be of interest; an in-depth survey of TCM in both Hong Kong and the USA.
When asked “Would you try to understand the content of TCM before using them?” only 33% answered “Yes”.
Of those asked “What would you do if the TCM you use contained ingredients from animals protected by law?” only 30.8% answered “Stop using immediately”.
When asked “If the sale of rhino horns are banned by law, would you continue to use TCM?” 23.1% answered “Yes”, 11.9% answered “Hard to say”.

9. Protect our Polar Bears Under the Endangered Species Act
Arctic sea-ice is melting at an alarming rate due to global warming. One of the primary animals affected is the polar bear whom is entirely dependent on the Arctic sea-ice. Drownings, once rare, have begun to occur at an alarming rate because of the far distances the bears must swim between substantially thick enough sections of sea-ice. Some scientists have even predicted ice-free summers by the year 2040.
Because of the drastic melt, scientists are seeing thinner bears, lower female reproductive rates and reduced juvenile survival. Of particular importance to this problem, is the recent increase by 28 percent on polar bear quotas in Nunavut. Instead of looking at scientific numbers of bears present within the province, the government of Nunavut chose to make this decision based on Inuit Qaujimatjatuqangit, or traditional knowledge.
Additionally, a significant number of polar bear hunt tags are being sold to American hunters that simply want the experience of bringing home a trophy kill: Canada being the only country where this practice is still legal.
Therefore, we as citizens of the world need to protect the polar bear from extinction, by fighting to have the polar bear added to the Endangered Species Act.
10. Support Proposal to List Polar Bears As "Threatened"
Send in your public comment to support listing polar bears as a "Threatened" species!
Polar bears really need our help: according to government studies in recent months, more and more are starving to death, and more and more of their babies are dying before reaching adulthood. In fact, of polar bears studied between 1990 and last spring, only 25 cubs per 100 females survived. That's less than half the survival rate of polar bear cubs studied from 1967 to 1989!
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is requesting public comments regarding the listing of polar bears as a "Threatened" species. In just 5 minutes, you can send in your public comment - just sign this petition.
11. Stop Lafayette From Polluting Our Seas
August 4, 2006
In many places, pollution from mining operations damages marine habitats and contaminates seafood consumed by local people, threatening our oceans and ultimately ourselves and our future.
In the Philippines, Bicol's immensely beautiful marine environment and its fragile sea creatures face a grave threattoxic pollution and siltation caused by mining operations in Rapu Rapu Island in Albay.
The pristine waters of the Bicol region are acknowledged as the feeding grounds and migratory route of the whale shark, the largest fish in the sea. It is also home to five of the seven known marine turtles in the world, and its rich seagrass beds and mangroves, which make for a high marine biodiversity index, have turned the area into exceptionally rich fishing grounds for the region's fishermen.
The Philippine government allowed Australian firm Lafayette Philippines Inc to start the extraction of gold, silver, copper and zinc within Rapu Rapu in April 2005 despite strong opposition from local and national groups concerned that toxic mine tailings will be released into the sea. Clearly, the island is a dangerous place for a mine: not only is it situated along the country's typhoon belt, but also along a major fault, making it a high-risk area for mining catastrophes. During its few - months of operation, the mining company showed negligence and government agencies, such as the Environmental Management Bureau and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, failed to act on behalf of the people and environment. In October and November 2005, cyanide and other contaminants from the mine spilled into the sea and around the island, resulting in massive fish kills.
On May 19, 2006, a government-commissioned report recommended canceling the license of Lafayette in Rapu Rapu and a moratorium on all mining at Rapu Rapu. Greenpeace is running a petition to President Gloria Arroyo to follow the recommendations of the Rapu Rapu Factfinding Commission.
The Greenpeace petition calls for permanent closure of the mine and obligation or Lafayette to clean and rehabilitate the mine site so that further damage can be avoided.

Why take an endangered species off the endangered species list? I don't know.
What I do know is that if manatees are taken off the list, they WILL become EXTINCT.
13. Save Sharks
May 9, 2006
So, you think that you know everything about sharks, huh? evil eating machines bent on destroying all species but their own, right? ha ha ha.. NO!
Have you ever even taken the time to learn about them. No, you say, slowly walking away from me. You don't care... WELL I DO! Sharks are an important species that clean our ocean. all these people come up to you, trying to get you to listen to thier cause, but you dont even care enough to listen. well, i'm gunna make you listen to me!
Everyday, you hear about these evil killing machines hiding underneath the water. well guess what. we're the mindless evil killing machines ABOVE the water. Sharks are being killed daily and no one does any thing about it. yeah, some places made laws, but are they strongly reinforced? heck no! i want you to give me this little signature to help me get them the reinforcment they need.
I am so tired of all these people, claiming that sharks are mindless killing machines! that really ticks me off! did you know that you are more likely to be struck by lightining than killed by a shrak? bet you didn't. or that your more likely to be malled by a dolfin? bet not... how would you like it for someone to take your pet, cut off it's limbs and tail (if it has one) and throw it in the water for it to drown and bleed to death? and not even take one second to watch it die, just going off to find another? that it what it is like. do you ever see those lost pet sign? remeber the pang of pain you felt when you saw the pics of it? well have a gander at these...

14. No Implementation of Wind Turbines
April 3, 2006
The Niagara Escarpment in wrongly being threatened with destruction. Recognized as one of the most scenic landmarks in Canada, characterized by its rolling hills and forested regions, little can replace the natural spectacles viewed there.
However, this environment is challenged by the Superior Wind Energy, who wishes to implement 133 wind turbines, structures that stand over 400 feet tall and would obliterate the serenity and splendor of the region. Not only would these turbines be unappealing to the aesthetics of the Escarpment, but also rival the sustainability of many species of animals populating the region.
Considering that very rare species of vegetation, birds, reptiles and amphibians inhabit this if would be a tragedy to see these natural organisms become extinct.
Another quality of the Niagara Escarpment the implementation of Wind Turbines would affect is the local economy. The tourism industry would be gravely hurt by such construction because many hikers blaze the trails of the Niagara Escarpment, but with the Wind Turbines obstructing the trails the serenity of the region would be impeded.
Also with less space for housing development and the threat that some current habitants might choose to move because of the turbines, local businesses and industries will not be able to reach there full potential without adequate numbers of employees.
The last topic that will be mentioned is the very relevant fact that so many alternatives to wind energy exist. Solar energy, geothermal energy and bioenergy are all safe and not obstructive method of retaining energy, which do not supplement harsh on the surrounding Escarpment as the potential wind energy would, and these other options must be considered.
The Blue Highlands Citizen Coalition would like to take this time to thank you for taking the time to read our petition, and with you we hope that we have bestowed the knowledge of how many species of wildlife would be affected by potential wind turbines, and we trust that you have become aware of the vital need to prevent any construction of this nature.
Thank you for your patronage.
15. Re-institution of the Sierra Nevada Framework
The current plan to help the environment, the Forest Plan Amendment, is actually destroying the habitats endangered species depend upon, but is also contributing to the overall greenhouse gas effect through deforestation of parts of the Sierra Nevada Range.
This petition is designed to re-instate the old plan, the Sierra Nevada framework, which not only protected the endangered species that live the Sierra Nevada range, but also served as a bridge between environmentalists and timber companies.
16. Save Wisconsin Cats from Hunters
On April 11, 2005, the Wisconsin Conservation Congress had their annual spring meeting. One of the issues addressed was whether or not to adopt a law to make feral and domestic cats an "unprotected species" meaning that cats could be shot on sight if they were not wearing a collar. As anyone knows, a collar on your cat will NOT prevent someone from shooting it if they want to. They will merely destroy the collar after they have killed the cat.
The meetings were primarily attended by hunters and, thus, those FOR the proposition exceeded those of us against it.
The meeting of April 11th did not reflect the opinions of the majority of Wisconsin taxpayers as the majority of the persons attending the meetings were hunters, not the average citizen.
We are opposed to a law making feral and domestic cats an "unprotected species" as this will not only endanger our pets, it will also make it legal for people to do anything they want to these defenseless animals.
We need to let the Governor and our legislators know that the Conservation Congress does NOT speak for the majority of the citizens of this State. We cannot allow the hunters here to make our laws.
17. Muscovy Ducks to be designated as a Florida native species
We, the undersigned, are calling for the abolition of cruelty to Muscovy Ducks in the State of Florida and asking that they are designated as a Florida Native species.
One of the main reasons the Muscovy duck was brought here several hundred years ago, was to help keep down the mosquito and bug population. There are billions of insects on an acre of land, and the Muscovy ducks are worth their weight in gold at eating mosquitoes and insects; including mosquito larva. They also eat flies, maggots and roaches.
Muscovies do not cause pollution in the water and do not cause algae... they eat it, they do not cause it.
The Muscovy duck is very friendly and loved by many people who take the time to get to know them. There are a lot of lies spread about these ducks. These ducks are not aggressive towards human beings in any way.
They also do not carry diseases. As any living person or creature, ducks can occasionally get ill, just as any bird of fowl can, this does not mean they carry diseases. They are also very clean and take from 3 to 10 baths a day. Their droppings are soft and wash down with a hose very easy, and is also very good fertilizer.
The Muscovy has the nicest character of any of the breeds with a pronounced sense of humour/ very intelligent and head of any escape committee !
"Duck haven" information below:
**** Trappers do NOT relocate. They KILL. They drug them, maim them, and then gas them. Do not believe the ducks are being sent elsewhere
**** Muscovies are not a health hazard. Yes, they may poop on the driveway, but with a little care and patience and a working garden hose, the mess is cleaned up. There has never been a proven incidence where a duck has spread any disease. This is a myth.
**** They are environmentally helpful. They rid our yard of many insects including; mosquitoes and spiders. They also rid out yards of snakes, and small rodents.
**** They've been here in
Florida longer than we have! They settled here over 100 years ago.
_______________________________________
We want these friendly ducks to be protected. We want to stop the abuse and killings of the Muscovy Ducks. We want to stop the trappers from abusing and killing the Muscovy Ducks.
We want the Muscovy Ducks to be declared native and be protected.
Egrets have only been here for about 50 years and they are protected, yet the Muscovy has been here for hundreds of years and is not protected. We are asking for the Muscovy Ducks to be a native species in the state of Florida.
Thank you
18. South Koreans, Save the Whales!
By the 1970s, commercial whaling had caused 8 out of the 10 great whale species to be commercially extinct. The International Whaling Commission's (IWC's) ban on commercial whaling went into effect in 1986. Since then, pro-whaling countries have been trying to lift the ban and continue to kill whales by using exceptions to the ban.
Most species of whales are still endangered and there is no humane way to kill a whale. Whales suffer horrible and often prolonged deaths due to brutal and unreliable killing methods used by whalers. They also suffer from being caught in fishing nets of commercial fisheries targeting other species. Instead of making an effort to safely release them, they are brought onboard to die and to be sold for human consumption.
The annual IWC meeting will be held in Ulsan, South Korea in 2005. South Korea has voted against protecting whales. Please sign this petition to let your government know that South Koreans care about whales and about animal welfare and want them to vote in favor of protecting these magnificent animals.
19. Abolish Wildlife Drowning Traps
Garden drowning traps for squirrels and other urban wildlife is on the increase. These traps are barbaric, unnecessary and a danger to rare species.
Using such traps gives excuse to the poorly-educated in wildlife instincts the right to kill such species in the name of garden preservation.
20. Save the Cedar Tree in Slough, Berkshire
August 2004
The supermarket chain Tesco has applied for planning permission to rebuild their store in Slough, Berkshire. Their current proposal would result in the cutting down of a Cedar Tree.
This tree is around 150 years old and is not a common variety. This is a species called Cedrus libani (Cedar of Lebanon) and there are probably fewer than 500 decent specimens of this species in the whole of the UK. This tree is also protected by a Tree Preservation Order which can only be overruled by the planning committee of Slough Borough Council.
We believe that Slough Borough Council should deny this present planning permission and request that Tesco should re-submit proposals and plans that conserve and preserve this tree.
21. Save Crystal Gardens Conservation Centre
On January 22nd, 2004, The BC Provincial Capital Commission announced that they had made the decision to close the Crystal Gardens Conservation Centre.
This centre is an educational, cultural, and conservation resource, and is a public asset. The PCC made this decision with NO PUBLIC CONSULTATION.
The ivory trade has pushed elephants steadily toward extinction. In the 1980s, 2,000 elephants were being killed every week across Africa. Only a Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) ban on the international trade in ivory could stop the bloodshed. And yet there is constant pressure on CITES to reopen the international ivory trade.
CITES agreed to a partial lifting of the ban, but this did nothing to curb poaching, to provide adequate funding for enforcement of wildlife protection laws, or to uplift local communities. Still elephants across Africa and Asia continue to be slaughtered and ivory traded in huge quantities. Today there are only an estimated 519,461 wild elephants in Africa and approximately 30,000 wild elephants in Asia.
At the height of the international ivory trade in the 1970s and 1980s, Zambia's elephant population dwindled from 200,000 to fewer than 20,000, according to Zambia's Deputy Tourism Minister. This trend was reversed only when the international ivory ban was agreed. Any relaxation in protection for Zambia?s elephants could wipe out the remaining elephants in a very short space of time.
Zambia's elephants can earn far more for their country alive than dead. In 1989 Kenya's elephants were estimated to be worth US$25 million in tourism each year. Zambia should not allow itself to be lured by the prospect of the quick money to be gained by allowing elephants to be killed for their ivory when there is a long-term profit in keeping elephants alive.
24. Fear Factor & NBC have total disregard for the welfare and treatment of reptiles.
Fear Factor & NBC have total disregard for the welfare and treatment of reptiles. For any avid viewers who watch this show you will know what i mean, they have in their first 2 seasons on air twice mistreated and neglectfully mistreated reptile ( snakes ) on their "thrill seeking tv show". There first blatent mistreatment of reptiles came on there first season as they dumped several species of snakes ( Boa Constrictor Imperators / Burmese pythons & corn /king snakes) into a box with a human in the event ot overcome there fears of snakes for a cash reward.
As stated by contestants the snakes were " COLD AS ICE " this implies the snakes had to have been cooled to keep the snakes inactive as possible ? yes that is what that means . While doing so this offers the chance of transmitting inter species diseases to other snkes , promotes the chance of a cold blooded reptile contracting Respitory infections ( which CAN kill the animals in question. Now on 3/11/02 there show airs with the intent to do the same . They show there contestants carelessly grabbing fragile snakes ( corn snakes ) and carelessly picking them up on a timed basis to win a cash prize! This in itself is appauling to watch , needless to say the chances of injuring the snakes ex: breaking ribs , backs and causing stress to the snakes which can lead to death , starvation of the snakes in extreme cases.During the filming of FEAR FACTOR the show atleast one snake with its Jaw disengaged, due to handling. Now if this show was to have contestants carelessly toss around any fur bearing animals in the pursuit of " TV entertainment sake" they would be harshly repremanded for there actions.
Now is the time for ALL Reptile lovers to join together to show NBC / Fear Factor this will not be tolerated at the expensive of a reptile or ANY animals to be treated in this fashion. Together in numbers we ALL can make our voices heard and have them understand that what they are doing is no different then the person that doesnt feed the dog , beats there cats or mistreats ANY animal ni matter its status in the world this will not be taking lightly !!!
25. Abolish stupid polls about animals
Animals deserve a decent quality of life as much as humans but personally i would always be more worried about wars and the death and destructions of human lives rather than animals, who should occasionally be left to fend for themselves.
Animals near to extinction should be of course saved but should we not care about our own species more than others, thousands of millions of pounds are given to animals that could save childrens lives.
26. Tell the Liberals to Protect the Endangered Species
The Canadian government's continued failure to protect endangered species violates Canada's international obligations and ignores the will of Canadian citizens, says a new Greenpeace report released today.
The report, entitled Wipe Out: The Liberal Government's Plan for Endangered Species in Canada shows how Canada is failing to live up to its international word by failing to protect endangered species. Canada first committed to protect species and their habitats at the Rio de Janeiro Earth Summit in 1992, but has failed to keep its promise, even though 97 % of Canadians support strong endangered species legislation (Pollara, May 1999.)
Its latest Species at Risk Act, Bill C-5, is currently before Parliament and has been harshly criticized by environmentalists and scientists as insufficient.
'After three tries, the Liberals still don't get it. You can't protect species without protecting their habitat and Bill C-5 doesn't do the job', said Tamara Stark of Greenpeace. Bill C-5 violates Canada's international obligations and in the process, does the impossible: makes Brian Mulroney look better than David Anderson.
Stark noted while Canada, under Brian Mulroney, championed the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Liberals have failed to fulfill any of their commitments to the CBD. Canada is hosting an important CBD meeting one month from now in Montreal and, based on the work done to date, will have little progress to report at this meeting.
More than 1,300 scientists from across North America recently urged Prime Minister Jean Chretien to take immediate action to strengthen the endangered species legislation, a requirement of the CBD. Three critical changes needed are to:
1) Require mandatory protection of all critical habitat of species considered at risk;
2) Ensure that scientists, rather than politicians, maintain responsibility for selecting what species are listed at being at risk; and
3) Ensure that the legislation applies to both federal and provincial lands, since the current legislation will apply to only 5 per cent of Canada's landbase.
'By refusing to make the changes needed, David Anderson is betraying Canadian species and violating the trust of Canadian citizens,' Stark said. 'It's time for Prime Minister Chrétien to step in and ensure that Canada keeps its promise to protect this nation's species.'
27. Make Bio-testing of all products law
Make Bio-testing (non-invasive, using state of the art technology) of all products used in and around our bodies, plants and animals absolutely compulsory. This would avoid the catastrophic consequences to humans, animals and plants of the widespread contamination by chemical, radiation, oil/petroleum, nuclear, pharmaceutical and biological agents.
REMEMBER, IN EVERY SINGLE CASE OF ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION, GENETIC DAMAGE, NUCLEAR POLLUTION, CHEMICAL AND PHARMACEUTICAL DAMAGE/DEFORMITY, AND "SAFETY" STANDARDS CREATED FOR THE AVOIDANCE OF THESE PROBLEMS, THERE IS ONE FACTOR COMMON TO ALL. In EVERY CASE, there was a whitecoated, academically impeccable, well credentialled and well paid (or well paid OFF) SCIENTIST WHO WAS GIVEN THE RIGHT OF VETO ON SAFETY...
There needs to be a new standard of BIO-SAFETY which simply means that anything that interferes with our oxygen uptake, heartrate, brainwaves, pulse and bio-meridian electric field and causes loss of capacity or downgrading of any of the above, should not be able to be sold without a rating of safety from 1 to 10, with 10 being the safest to all major body functions. The same should apply to animals, and plants, which can be tested for slowing of sap flow and lack of capillary response, just like human & animal blood flow, cortisol etc. Thermal imaging, simple medical instruments can be used to test this on an instant response basis. We DON'T need a five year, fund sucking 'scientific' study on safety to give us all the damaging exposures that have been sanctioned by these elitists, who have said 'this is totally afe', or 'this is safe enough to pass'. We all pay the price for their arrogant lack of care - why aren't their safe chemicals tested on scientist guinea pigs, diluted of course, just like our drinking water containing poisons, and ag. runoffs which are classed as safe. Remember that NUCLEAR pollution was pronounced totally safe by the American Academy of Science in the 1940's, and tobacco, and DDT, and Thalidomide, and thousands of others. We now have BSE because nobody bothered to bio-test animals for their body and systemic reaction to being fed manure mixed with chemicals and body parts of other (even diseased) species. Nature never ever sinned against any species in history, equal to the damage caused 'scientifically qualified' humans. DEMAND PROOF OF DYNAMIC BIO-SAFETY, NOT FIVE YEAR FARCES. Our planet deserves it and so do we.
28. Support Terrapin Stock Assessment
The Diamondback Terrapin may be under increasing harvesting pressure. This species is a prized food item in many urban markets in the US and in Canada. In response to citizens request the Governor of Maryland has appropriated $250,000 for a five year stock assessment of the Diamondback Terrapin, the State Reptile. ALthough the funds have been requested, the overall budget must be approved. This is a very important study and necessary to conserve this species.
29. Road rage threatens endangered species
Over the past decade we have gradually seen the phasing out of a fine automobile, "the Magna" Recently numbers appear to be in rapid decline and something must be done to preserve this unique species. Capable of transporting 7 in relative discomfort, losing no traction on beach terrain and surviving a hundred kilo monolithic unit from Orange falling on its roof, the Magna has proven time and again that it is a survivor. Those who own a Magna swear by it, however these individuals are often subject to delusions of its invulnerability and as such often push the Magna to its limits. It is these people that must be identified, they must be held accountable for their actions and the cruelty they inflict upon this species. Only with your support can we save this special breed of car and ensure that future university students have a bucket like the Magna they can call their own. Please help save the Magna!!
