91. Let the people decide benifits of all elected officials
To go with previous petition on taking control of governmental retirements.
92. Discontinue Ohio Daylight Savings Time
This is a petition to request that the state of Ohio discontinue the inconvenient practice of Daylight Savings Time.
Ohio should keep time the same all year round.
93. Make African-Americans' Right to Vote a LAW
Did you know that African-Americans' right to VOTE will expire in the year 2007? Seriously! The Voters' Rights Act signed in 1965 by Lyndon B. Johnson was just an ACT. It was not made a law.
In 1982, Ronald Reagan amended the Voters Rights Act for another 25 years. Which means that in the year 2007 we could lose the Right to vote!
Does anyone realize that African Americans are the only group of people who require PERMISSION under the United States Constitution to vote!
In the year 2007, Congress will once again convene to decide whether or not Blacks should retain the rights to vote (crazy but true).
94. Change Human Trafficking Punishments
Trafficking across the Mexico-Texas border is only a first-degree felony if the crime is done to a person 14 years old or younger.
Once the person is older than 14, the crime is only punishable by a second-degree felony.
House Bill 2096 needs to be amended to make trafficking of any human being the same first-degree felony.
October 20, 2005
I want the right to bear arms.
These rights keep getting taken away so less crime will happen. But the Second Amendment gives the right to keep and bear arms.
96. Disengage from Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico has proven a beast of burden to the United States. It also has engaged in Anti-American chants and protests.
Puerto Rico has proven to be a bad investment for the United States. Overall this small island of about 5 million inhabitants has cost us over 16 Billion a year, with little or no generated revenue.
Just a couple of weeks ago, a puerto rican freedom fighter was killed, in connection to armored car robberies in the late 70's. Upon the killing of this CRIMINAL, puerto rican nationals engaged in ANTI- AMERICAN chants and protest.
On top of that, these people have parades in OUR nation parading a flag that in actuallity doesn't exist. If these people truely want to be part of our nation, they must denounce their flag and uphold ours.
97. Stop Iran's Nuclear Program
October 17, 2005
The UN must move immediately to stop Iran from developing nuclear weapons.
This issue is critical for world peace and must be addressed before it's too late.
98. Abolish Senior Citizen taxation on wages
Senior citizens in the United States have had to carry the economic burden of responsiblity of our counry throughout their youth.
With the curret affairs of the Social Securty progam little benefit will at best be available for many senior citiens. Currently, many Senior Citzens live below the poverty level and there is a wide increase of more seniors without adequate financial means.
Many impovished Seniors have no real choices to retire and so go on working in menial jobs just to make a living.
We the people ask that a law be signed that abolishes taxation of wages of Senior citizens age 55+.
This petition has been created to help convince Lt. Governor Brian Dubie that he can better serve his state, and the country by remaining in the Lt. Governor position.

SOCIAL SECURITY:
(This is worth reading. It is short and to the point.)
Perhaps we are asking the wrong questions during election years.
Our Senators and Congresswomen do not pay into Social Security and, of course, they do not collect from it.
You see, Social Security benefits were not suitable for persons of their rare elevation in society. They felt they should have a special plan for themselves. So, many years ago they voted in their own benefit plan.
In more recent years, no congressperson has felt the need to change it. After all, it is a great plan.
For all practical purposes their plan works like this:
When they retire, they continue to draw the same pay until they die.
Except it may increase from time to time for cost of living adjustments..
For example, Senator Byrd and Congressman White and their wives may expect to draw $7,800,000.00 (that's Seven Million, Eight-Hundred Thousand Dollars), with their wives drawing $275,000.00 during the last years of their lives.
This is calculated on an average life span for each of those two Dignitaries.
Younger Dignitaries who retire at an early age, will receive much more during the rest of their lives.
Their cost for this excellent plan is $0.00. NADA....ZILCH....
This little perk they voted for themselves is free to them. You and I pick up the tab for this plan. The funds for this fine retirement plan come directly from the General Funds;
"OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK"!
From our own Social Security Plan, which you and I pay (or have paid) into,-every payday until we retire (which amount is matched by our employer)-we can expect to get an average of $1,000 per month after retirement.
Or, in other words, we would have to collect our average of $1,000 monthly benefits for 68 years and one (1) month to equal Senator! Bill Bradley's benefits!
Social Security could be very good if only one small change were made.
That change would be to:
Jerk the Golden Fleece Retirement Plan from under the Senators and Congressmen. Put them into the Social Security plan with the rest of us
then sit back.....
and see how fast they would fix it.
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe good changes will evolve.
How many people CAN you send this to?
Better yet.....
How many people WILL you send this to ?
101. Draft Brian Dubie for US Senate
Brian Dubie has served as Vermont's LT. Governor since 2003 and would be an outstanding US Senator.
On September 16th, Brian Dubie announced the formation of an exploratory committee.
This petition has been set up to allow people who support Brian to publically sign a petition to encourage him to enter the race.
102. Princeton University Call for Action in Darfur
When asked, "What can Princeton students do [to help]?", Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel responded, "Write a petition to the President. If every student at Princeton University signs it.."
Perhaps something can be done. Violence and destruction are raging in the Darfur region of western Sudan. Since February 2003, government-sponsored militias known as the Janjaweed have conducted a calculated campaign of slaughter, rape, starvation and displacement in Darfur.
It is estimated that 400,000 people have died due to violence, starvation and disease. More than 2.5 million people have been displaced from their homes and over 200,000 have fled across the border to Chad. Many now live in camps lacking adequate food, shelter, sanitation, and health care.
The United States Congress and President George W. Bush recognized the situation in Darfur as "genocide." Darfur, "near Hell on Earth," has been declared the worst humanitarian crisis in the world today.
Yet the administration has been slow to act on these declarations. The goal of this petition is to remind and encourage the President to act on his pledges.
103. Stop barbaric "War On Drugs" law
Do you really want to be forced to narc on your kids and neighbors, or serve prison time? If not, then you need to get active in letting the government know you will not tolerate Natzi tactics! There are currently over 2 million people in U.S. prisons. The majority are non violent, drug offenders. If Congressman Sensenbrenner, R,WI. gets his way, you will. Please sign this petition in total oposition of this very Anti-American of handling a situation!
Senior Republican Proposes ³Draft² for the War on Drugs.
New Bill Would Require All Americans to Spy on Their Neighbors, including Going Undercover and Wearing a Wire or Face Jail Time.
Instead of Dismantling Draconian, Unpopular Mandatory Minimum Sentences, Legislation Would Also
Establish ³Mandatory Minimums² for Every Federal Crime.
A Senior Republican in Congress has proposed what would essentially be a draft for the War on Drugs. The legislation would require all Americans who witness or learn about certain drug offenses to report them to the police within 24 hours and go undercover and wear a wire to catch the offenders if ordered to do so even if the offender is their son or daughter. Introduced by Congressman James Sensenbrenner (R-WI), the ³Safe Access to Drug Treatment and Child Protection Act² (H.R. 1528), would also overturn a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision by making all federal sentencing guidelines essentially mandatory and enacting new draconian penalties for a variety of non-violent drug offenses.
³It¹s frightening that a senior member of Congress wants to draft every American into the War on Drugs and make them agents of the state,² said Bill Piper, director of national affairs for the Drug Policy Alliance. ³This totalitarian legislation forces citizens to spy on each other and pits family member against family member.²
Under the legislation, any American who witnesses or learns of certain drug offenses taking place would have to report the offenses to law enforcement within 24 hours and provide ³full assistance² in the investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of the people involved. Failure to do so would be a crime punishable by a mandatory two year prison sentence and a maximum of ten years.
An example of an offense that would have to be reported to the police within 24 hours is finding out that one¹s brother, who has children, bought a bag of marijuana to share with his wife. Another example is finding out that one¹s son gave his college roommate a marijuana joint.
In each of these cases one is forced to report the relative to the police within 24 hours. One would also have to assist the government in every way, including wearing a wire if needed. Taking 48 hours to think about it could land one in jail. In addition to turning family member against family member, the legislation could also put many ordinary Americans into dangerous situations by forcing them to go undercover to gain evidence against strangers.
Despite growing opposition to mandatory minimum sentences, the bill also eliminates federal judges¹ ability to give sentences below the minimum sentence recommended by federal sentencing guidelines - essentially creating a mandatory minimum sentence for every federal offense (including both drug and non-drug offenses). It also mandates a 10-year minimum sentence for anyone 21 or older who gives marijuana or others drugs to someone under 18 (i.e. a 21-year-old college students shares a joint to his 17-year old brother). A second offense would carry a mandatory sentence of life in prison. Anyone at a party who passes a marijuana joint at a party to someone who has at some point in their life been in drug treatment would face a mandatory 5-year minimum prison sentence.
³Our country¹s prisons are already overcrowded with people serving massive sentences for non-violent drug offenses,² said Bill Piper. ³The recent Supreme Court decision provided a perfect opportunity for legislators to do the right thing and untie judges¹ hands. Instead, they¹re trying to handcuff the judges completely.²
The bill has been put on the same legislative fast-track as a recent controversial anti-gang bill that the U.S. House of Representatives passed in less than two month¹s time.
104. Justice for Rosa Parks, Claudette Colvin, Mary Louise Smith in Montgomery, Alabama
May 8, 2005
Petition for Pardon
We are circulating a petition to have criminal records permanently removed on three women that were illegaly arrested, jailed, charged, and fined for refusing to give up there seats on a city bus and stand so white riders could sit. Those women were Claudette Colvin, Mary Louise Smith-Ware, and Rosa Parks. Ms. Colvin and Mrs. Smith- were also involved in the civil rights case, Browder vs. Gayle, the case that desegregated buses in Montgomery, Al. in 1956. Mrs. Parks arrest helped cement black riders to begin the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
In 1900, a Montgomery city ordinance (overturned) December 21, 1956 was passed to segregate passengers by race. Conductors were given the power to assign seats to accomplish that purpose, however, no passengers would be required to move or give up their seat and stand if the bus was crowded and no other seats were available.
Ms.Colvin, Ms. Smith and Mrs. Parks were seating in the section reserved for colored passengers when they were told by white bus drivers to give up their seats for white passengers. They refused and were arrested. They were clearly within their rights and their actions sparked a 381-day boycott of Montgomery's City Line buses. Research from my documentary about the legal protest: Rivers of Change: The Story of Five Unheralded Women and Their Struggle for Justice and Dignity in Montgomery© revealed that white bus drivers broke the law by having those women arrested.
After their arrest, Ms. Colvin, and Ms. Smith joined Mrs. Aurelia Browder and Mrs. Sue McDonald as plaintiffs in federal court to challenge the constitutionality of segregated seating on city buses in Montgomery, Alabama, and America. They were represented by Montgomery Improvement Association lawyers, Charles Langford and Fred Gray, Sr. The case was a direct attack on Plessy vs. Ferguson ruling of 1896, which empowered states to enact racial segregation ordinances. A 3 judge federal panel ruled in favor of the plaintiffs, citing that Montgomery and Alabama's segregation laws violated their 14th amendment rights of "due process and equal justice under the law". The Supreme Court upheld the ruling of the federal court in December 1956 and totally reversed the Plessy ruling of 1896. It was the victory of the plaintiffs (legal protest) aided by the boycott (social protest) that brought an end to the boycott and segregated seating. Because of a legal technicality, Mrs. Parks was not a plaintiff in the federal civil rights lawsuit.
The world knows of Dr. Martin Luther King and Mrs. Parks, but few know about the people that propelled them to such fame and recognition.
We are not asking the Mayor to forgive them for their actions-we honor them for taking a stand, what we are asking for is that he recognize that the
drivers who committed the criminal acts against the women.
105. Send Michael Moore to France
November 09, 2004
Michael Moore is poisoning the US with his propaganda and needs to leave.
He has no respect for our president or our troops.
106. Vinessa's Law, Stop the Employment of Undocumented Immigrants
Vinessa Hoera was a 23 year old single mother, who was kidnapped on her way to pick up her 5 year old son Xaviah at daycare. Her new Toyota was found in flames 12 hours later but there was no sign of Vinessa.
Hundreds of volunteers, family, friends, police and trained dogs searched for weeks but came up empty. After 6 weeks, police arrested a co-worker, an undocumented immigrant, who worked with her for almost 2 years and charged him with arson.
It is confirmed that after 2 weeks in jail Vinessa's murderer called her father and confessed to killing Vinessa and dumping her body in the woods not far from where she worked.
After a weeks search police found Vinessa's body, she had been raped, beated and murdered. The co-worker has confessed to murder in the 1st degree, murder in the 2nd degree and 3rd degree arson.
CURRENT UPDATE:
The confessed murderer accepted a plea bargin set up with the families consent offering chavez 22 years to life for a full confession to all charges which took place on feb 15th, the details of chavez's actions were revealed for the first time to the horror of family and friends who attended. chavez was emotionless, monotone in voice and spoke very matter of factly of actions as if they meant nothing. Chavez was sentenced to 22 years to life on march 15th 2005 for the rape and murder of Vinessa Hoera, after about 40 years he will be sent to a holding prison awaiting deportation we are assured.
There are laws in our country stating that hiring an illegal immigrant is a federal offense, yet millions upon millions of them enter our country each year and find gainful employment everyday, taking jobs away from hard working, tax paying americans.
Currently our financial resources are being depleted because we have so many undocumented immigrants drawing from the programs designed to help the needy, but not enough workers replenishing those financial resourses thru their tax dollars. Our schools, medical facilities, neighborhoods and prisons are overwhelmed with the influx of undocumented immigrants, who are very active in the work force but send their tax free money home to their countries, leaving the legally employed taxpayers to foot the bill.
Homeland security is not equipped to handle the 125 million a year who sneak into America illegally every year, Vinessa's Law would give local law enforcment the authority to act on the behalf of homeland security and enforce the undocumented immigrantion employment laws by fining the employer. How will this help our tax dollars? Fines for the first offense can be up to $3000 for each employed undocumented immigrant. A 2nd offense is up to $10,000 per emplyed undocumented immigrant and a third offense the government would seize the business.
Any immigrants who were caught up in the law would be granted easier access to getting the proper credentials to become an active part of our society.
Those who refuse to be come legally employed and pay our tax dollars would be deported.
107. Legislation Against Chaining and Penning Dogs
Dogs Deserve Better Than A Life On Chains or In Pens! Dogs Deserve Better is an ASPCA award-winning nonprofit education / legislation / rescue organization dedicated to freeing the chained or penned dogs and bringing them into the family home and the family's hearts.
The organization has launched several national awareness campaigns to give a voice to the dogs who have been chained or penned outside to experience not only the effects of loneliness, boredom, parasites, and lack of food, water, exercise, and adequate shelter, but also the tragic effects of intense cold, numbing wind, frozen water, and blowing snow during the winter as well as the smothering heat, humidity, and rain or drought during the summer. Regardless of breed or size, there is no such thing as an "outside dog." This is a choice that the human has made for the dog, a choice that a dog, as a pack animal, would never make for himself.
Forcing a dog to live outside exposes him to psychological difficulties, the possibility of animal or human attacks, and the will to venture beyond the chain or pen, as well as to developing territorial and acting-out behaviors such as barking, jumping, and biting. Additionally, animals who live away from the family experience feelings of loneliness due to sporadic and brief affection and socialization.
Chaining or penning dogs is not only an animal issue, it is a public safety concern, as well. Animal behaviorists and animal care professionals acknowledge that chaining creates aggressive behavior in dogs. The Humane Society of the United States indicates that a chained or penned dog is 2.5 times more likely to attack than a dog who is living indoors. Additionally, a study cited by National Animal Control News (March/April 2004) concluded that dogs who have been chained or tethered for more than eight hours per day are three times more likely to bite their caretakers than if they had not been chained.
From October 2003 - April 2004, in the United States alone, there have been 10 serious injuries or fatal attacks caused by chained dogs. Four of those attacks occured in April 2004.
This petition serves the dogs who have been chained or penned FOR LIFE - not those who have been allowed outside to enjoy the good weather, to do "their business," or play.
This petition will be presented to the local and state legislature as well as to the President of the United States in an effort to enact laws against chaining and penning dogs. It can be made available to any individual who wishes to send it to their local lawmakers.
108. Support of the 108TH CONGRESS 1ST SESSION S. 1272. Bill
Update: October 15, 2005
This petition is now closed. Thanks to all supporters and to those who are now supporting the Stop Corporate Killing Campaign located at http://www.nycosh.org/environment_wtc/GulfCoast/NewOrleans10-6-05letter.htm.
.......................................
A resolution in support of 108TH CONGRESS 1ST SESSION S. 1272. To amend the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 to modify the provisions relating to citations and penalties.
Since 1982, approximately 170,000 workers have died due to workplace fatalities. Many of these workers died due to disregard for worker safety on the part of the employer. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, OSHA has the right to refer such cases of employer misconduct to the U.S. Department of Justice for criminal prosecution.
The facts are that since 1982, only 81 out of 170,000 workplace deaths have resulted in convictions, only 16 of which involved jail time.
The Occupational Safety and Health Act defines an employer's reckless disregard for safety resulting in the death of a worker as a misdemeanor, punishable by only a maximum of six months in jail.
109. Gays in America!
Feb 17, 2004
Many places in this country don't allow gay marriages. It's not a big deal. People are living the way they wanna live! Isnt that freedom!?!?! I thought we lived in the United States?? So why is the government banning gay marriages ? That isnt freedom!! Thats Descrimination! Thats like saying people of opposite races cannot wed.
Its all the same! We are all our own person! Why should the government be able to descriminate against homosexuals? It goes against what the United States really stands for. They havent given us the same rights as everyone else. They are singling us out. And destroying our legal rights as Americans. We have freedom of religion. There is no freedom of sexuality.
If someone decides to choose the the path of being a homosexual it makes them No different then anyother person walking the streets today. A persons choice of sexuallity is NO ONES business but their own.
They should be the ones to choose whom they spend the rest of thier life with.
110. No employment ban for WDR-journalists
On June 20, 2003, the Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR) broadcast "Aktenzeichen 11.9. ungelöst" [File 9/11 Unsolved], a documentary by German filmmakers Willy Brunner and Gerhard Wisnewski. The film dealt critically with the attacks on September 11, 2001, exposed inconsistencies, and raised doubts about the official version of the Bush Administration. The documentary drew a great deal of interest from the public and garnered an enormous rating. Approximately three months after the broadcast, following some political and media pressure, the WDR suddenly imposed an employment ban on the filmmakers.
When the filmmakers defended themselves, the broadcasting company reaffirmed that it "could no longer conceive of" any further cooperation. In a public statement, dated October 24, 2003, the WDR declared that the authors had not "fulfilled their assignment" and "missed the actual target." In fact, the WDR not only commissioned, extensively reviewed and approved the film, but also broadcast the documentary, examined the raw material and explicitly declared that the statements in the film were "not misrepresented or reported in a distorted manner," as some media had claimed.
The filmmakers Brunner and Wisnewski released the following statement: "The WDR has no valid reasons for this employment ban. The WDR always and at any time was informed about the critical content of the film. The WDR always and at any time could ask us questions about the film and was given all answers. The WDR commissioned, paid for and broadcast this critical film. Therefore, there is no reason for a belated employment ban."
The signature-list will not be visible here, but will be published from time to time on the authors website, printed in pdf format and sent to the director-general of the WDR.
111. Support Pat Toomey in Primary
This petition is to appeal to the Republican party to stop thwarting the grassroots in Pennsylvania by bashing Rep Pat Toomey (R-PA-15), who is running against Specter in the Primary.
112. Petition For Write-In Candidate
Paul DeLong
Republican Write-in Candidate for
U.S. Senate
2002 Recipient Of The Republican Senatorial Medal Of Freedom, This is the highest honor that the Republican members of the U.S. Senate can present to an individual.
113. Expel Senator Daschle and Rep. Gephardt
Petition to the US Congress to expel Senator Tom Daschle and Rep. Dick Gephardt.
114. Freedom
Some republican prisoners were released, due to the Good Friday Agreement, from 1998 to 2000. However, that was not nearly all republican prisoners, and most of the ones released have been put back into prison since. We demand the permanent release of ALL republican prisoners.
115. Decomissioning
The Provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA) has been made to look like the destroyers of peace since they won't decomission. However, they HAVE opened their arms dumps to inspectors more than once, allowed these inspectors to put security systems in place to monitor the weapons, and been in negotiations with a decomissioning comission. The UDA and UVF, on the other hand, have done nothing, they are fighting in the streets even, yet they do not have pressure put on them to decomission. Strange.
