1. No Tax Raise & No New Taxes
As Americans we are already paying too much in tax. Our founding fathers argued that they did not want to put a ceiling on a 10% tax rate for citizens because a future Government might have the audacity to impose such a high rate.
History supports less intrusive Government, free enterprise, and less than a 10% tax rate for all.
Britain is now in a Double-Dip recession. Now we have a four day weekend and many other bank holidays due to the royal family. This cannot be helping local businesses, and the economy will get worse.
If we ditch the monarchy perhaps we can focus our efforts on better things to boost the economy, for example we could sell the castles and royal homes as tourist attractions, or they could be used to shelter those who don't have homes in Britain at the moment, the royal family can get proper jobs to help or get the normal retirement money like everyone else.
In the 21st century we should not have "Royal" people, everyone is equal, most other monarchy's are now gone and they're probably doing a lot better than we are.
3. Bring Back the Fairness Doctrine
Quoting from the Museum of Broadcast Communications:
“The policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission that became known as the “Fairness Doctrine” is an attempt to ensure that all coverage of controversial issues by a broadcast station be balanced and fair. The FCC took the view, in 1949, that station licensees were “public trustees”, and as such had an obligation to afford reasonable opportunity for discussion of contrasting points of view on controversial issues of public importance. The Commission later held that stations were also obligated to actively seek out issues of importance to their community and air programming that addressed those issues. With the deregulation sweep of the Reagan Administration during the 1980s, the Commission dissolved the fairness doctrine. 1”
“The fairness doctrine ran parallel to Section 315 of the Communications Act of 1937 which required stations to offer “equal opportunity” to all legally qualified political candidates for any office if they had allowed any person running in that office to use the station. The attempt was to balance–to force an even handedness. Section 315 exempted news programs, interviews and documentaries. But the doctrine would include such efforts. Another major difference should be noted here: Section 315 was federal law, passed by Congress. The fairness doctrine was simply FCC policy. 1”
“By 1985, the FCC issued its Fairness Report, asserting that the doctrine was no longer having its intended effect, might actually have a “chilling effect” and might be in violation of the First Amendment. In a 1987 case, Meredith Corp. v. FCC, the courts declared that the doctrine was not mandated by Congress and the FCC did not have to continue to enforce it. The FCC dissolved the doctrine in August of that year. 1”
The Congress voted to enact the Fairness Doctrine into law; however, it was vetoed by President Regan. The second attempt ran out of support with a threatened veto by President Bush the First. Today, we find, “there is no required balance of controversial issues as mandated by the fairness doctrine. The public relies instead on the judgment of broadcast journalists and its own reasoning ability to sort out one-sided or distorted coverage of an issue. 1”
A license permits broadcasting, but the licensee has no constitutional right to be the one who holds the license or to monopolize a...frequency to the exclusion of his fellow citizens. There is nothing in the First Amendment which prevents the Government from requiring a licensee to share his frequency with others.... It is the right of the viewers and listeners, not the right of the broadcasters, which is paramount.
— U.S. Supreme Court, upholding the constitutionality of the Fairness Doctrine in Red Lion Broadcasting Co. v. FCC, 1969.
The fairness doctrine would bring back serious discourse, lengthier soundbites and deeper debates; it will not stifle dissent or free speech it will invite and embrace all voices.
4. The T.E.A. Party will not tolerate racism
The media has reported incidents of racism at TEA Party rallies. Though unsubstantiated in many cases, there is some evidence of this. The goal of this petition is to condemn any sign of racism at any TEA Party event or Town Hall meetings around the country.
By signing this petition, you pledge to condemn racism in politics at every level. The petition signatures will be forwarded to the media, in hopes that they will report this effort.
5. Stop the use of Chemical Pesticides on Banana crops
Chemical pesticides have been used on banana crops for over half a century. The wide spread use of these pesticides in South American countries has produced numerous accounts of physical illness on the people who work on banana plantations as well as the people of the surrounding villages and towns.
The corporations who use these pesticides on a regular basis are ignoring many of these illness issues. The illnesses that are inflicted on the workers and their families cause undue financial and physical harm, and do not allow them to keep their jobs, which are essential to providing for their families.
6. Support a real Solution for Greece Macedonia dispute re the name issue
Background of Greece-Macedonian dispute on the name issue
The Macedonia naming dispute refers to the disagreement over the use of the name Macedonia between Greece and the Republic of Macedonia. Greece opposes on 1991's constitutional name, after Macedonia declare a full independence from SFRY, though the name Macedonia was in official use as a constitutional name of the state since 02 August 1944. Background of existence of Modern Macedonian state and the name
Macedonia was a single geographic entity until the Balkan Wars of 1912-13. As a result of the Treaty of Bucharest, Macedonia was partitioned among Serbia, Greece, and Bulgaria. These regions are known as the Republic of Macedonia (organised state since 1944 and independent since 1991), Aegean Macedonia (occupied by Greece since 1913), Pirin of macedonia (occupied by Bulgaria since 1913). Declaration (Manifesto) of ASNOM - 02 August 1944
ASNOM became and remained the biggest event of Macedonian struggle for national freedom and sovereignty. The most important decision at the First Session of ASNOM was the decision to proclaim ASNOM the supreme legislative and executive body representing the Macedonian people, and the pinnacle of state authority in Macedonia. It incorporated initial guidelines on constituting the Macedonian state, creating the "constitutional, legal document, upon the basis of which the Macedonian federal state is to be established and built." The decision also provided for constituting the people's administration,” the government of the Macedonian state, the functions of which were, for the time being, to be performed by the Presidium of ASNOM". Furthermore, in structuring executive authority, this document provided for the formation of "a required number of departments for the various branches of state administration" which were to perform the function of ministries until a government was established. This initial constitution for Macedonia was further supplemented by ASNOM with a definition of essential and guaranteed civil rights. The Declaration on Citizens' Rights stated that all citizens of Macedonia "are equal before the law, irrespective of their nationality, sex, race and religion." The Declaration also guaranteed the rights of ethnic minorities "to a free national life." The minorities are further mentioned in the ASNOM Manifesto, wherein the freedom and equality of all nationalities in Macedonia is proclaimed." (source: Mi-Am publishing)

The first constitution of People Republic of Macedonia 31/12/1946
The first constitutional period of Macedonia in a formal sense began with the introduction of the Constitution of Popular Republic of Macedonia on the 31st December 1946. The first constitution of Macedonia was passed and proclaimed by the Constitutional Assembly of the Popular Republic of Macedonia, which, after having passed the Constitution, continued its work as a regular assembly. Apart from its constitutional and legal significance as the highest act of the country, this constitution also had a particular political importance, because it was a document through which the Macedonian state was constitutionally established, and therefore, generally recognized. The constitution of 1946 first set out the character of the state and the way in which it was to be administered. The People's Republic of Macedonia was established as a people's state in a republican form, in which the Macedonian people, expressing their free will, joined together with the other nations of Yugoslavia and their people's republics on the principle of equality to form a common federal state - the FPRY. This definition of the republic exclusively expressed its state legal element, which was necessary and justified during that period, in order to express its constituting as a state. In this definition, there are also elements of the principle of self-determination of the people, expressed in a voluntarily and freely expressed will to join together with the other nations of Yugoslavia. Citizens of The Republic of Macedonia (constitutional name of our country!) are no longer willing to be exposed on further political pressure connected to the UN established "name issue" negotiation process between Republic of Greece and Republic of Macedonia.
So far, it is well known that there is a region with the same name in Greece, and that Macedonia with a reference REPUBLIC is a separate state.
During the years of so far "endless negotiations" our national identity was denied, our language (which is Macedonian!) was called Slavo-macedonian (even in the EP or EU documents!).
Now we are faced with other "creative politician's suggestions" on WHAT ELSE TO ADD to the official name of our country in order not to be offensive to Greece.
So, WE simply WANT to send a very SIMPLE message to all politicians involved in negotiations of both countries, UN special envoy Mr. Mathiew Niemetz, EU, EP, CoE, OSCE and to all other Inernational Community representatives that REPUBLIC IS ENOUGH!
8. Stop the killing of protesters in Iran; bring the perpetrators to justice
We can stop the killing of Iranian protesters; we can bring the perpetrators to justice.
Imagine a country at the confluence of 4 continents, representing all the human diversity, where cultures breed from each others, where imagination and creativity flow among its constituencies beating the divides and innovating in a new transnational era.
The time has come for such a transnational dream to come true:
• The current financial crisis is due to the unfair distribution of wealth and social injustice. Curing it by going back to the same values of consumerism will recreate the cycle. Closing up the doors and raising up the walls of protectionism is obsolete in an interconnected world.
• The global gravity centre is shifting from west to east and from being one polar to multi-polar.
• nation-state is no longer the sole player in determining international and even domestic politics. It has to share the stage with a large and growing array of agencies and organisations (McGrew 1992, Global Politics).
• The dispersion of national power radically changes the politics of citizenship: On the one hand, it is increasingly difficult for national governments to determine and to guarantee citizens’ rights independently from other political forces. In this context, not only external influences (e.g. at the transnational level) can be decisive, but also challenges from within, for example by city or regional governments. On the other hand, participation and even representation in the polity are increasingly matters beyond the jurisdiction of national governments and nation states. A good example of this is the attempt by the European Union to create a European citizenship and to define the political rights of European citizens within the member states by granting local and European voting rights (Meehan 1993, Citizenship and the European Community).
• The role of civil society in influencing politics is stronger then ever.
• New Telecommunication Technologies has reshaped the inter-human relationships and is creating Homo-Universalis, digital savvy and transnational creatures
PAX REPUBLIC is a transnational community building project that explores the factors that unite humanity. The components of this timeless journey are products of groups and communities from various backgrounds and continents united by PAX REPUBLIC vision.
PAX REPUBLIC intends to break the walls created by the actual divide-and-rule political systems through a cross-disciplinary approach: reconstructing the spirit of humanism, building on what has been achieved, seeking the wisdom and good practices locally and overseas, harnessing the power of the ICT, sharing creativity and imagination, bringing transnational communities together and integrating them in all areas: culturally, socio-economically and politically, going beyond the official approach of city twinning to embrace fully the other and interbreed with his culture.
PAX REPUBLIC will be developed in phases. The first phase entitled ‘Genesis’ will be a collaborative work of 5 years in 5 cities from the 4 continents - Liverpool, Cape Town, Istanbul, Guadalajara and London. The objective of this phase is to build in each of those cities a cross-disciplinary transnational community that shares our core values and start implementing its strategic vision of transnational communities integration.
10. KotOR Awesomeness Multiplier!
Mission Vao is an annoying and useless character in KotOR, who's only real purpose in the game is the make you feel a more complete sense of accomplishment when you kill her towards the end. Canderous Ordo on the other hand, is pretty cool.
Canderous and Mission don't get along, so it would most assuredly be awesome and fitting to expand this, so they would eventually fight to the death. It would also give at least some reason to tolerate Mission's annoying presence in your party for any length of time, so you could have the pleasure of murdering her earlier.

13. More Cardinals for the Republic of the Philippines (RP)
Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion, with 81% of the population belonging to this faith in the Philippines.
The country has a significant Spanish Catholic tradition, and Spanish style Catholicism is highly embedded in the culture, which was acquired from [priest]s or friars (prayle in Filipino). This is shown in traditions such as Misa de Gallo, Black Nazarene procession, Santo Niño and Aguinaldo procession, where large crowds gather, honouring their patron saint/s.
Processions and fiestas are conducted during feast days of the patron saints of various barrios or barangays.
Every year on October 31 to November 2, Filipino families celebrates the Day of the Dead which they spend much of the 3 days and 3 evenings visiting their ancestral graves, showing respect and honor to their departed relatives by feasting and offering prayers.
Christmas in the Philippines is a celebration spanning just more than the day itself. Many traditions and customs are associated with this grand feast, along with
Sen. Joker Arroyo urged the new Papal Nuncio Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams to look into the "disproportionate" number of Filipino cardinals representing the 73 million Catholic population in the Philippines.
Arroyo has filed a resolution pointing out what he called "grossly disproportionate" appointment of three cardinals representing a country in Asia with the biggest number of Catholics.
14. Support the Dominican Republic's Economic Development
The Dominican Republic has being brought up by the Spanish colonizers to the island in the beginning of the 20th century the DR was beginning to show some stable un-corrupted government, with the help of the ex-president Rafael Trujillo, the economy was boosted.
But now all you see in poverty. The Dominican people are nice and honest people, we welcome you to our country, we share our world with you!
15. Planet Earth and the U.N. belongs to God!
As an international consultant for entrepreneurial and social development, with more than 20 years of expertise; I had the opportunity to formulate for the European Commission (EC/UE), a innovative project to foster competitiveness of micro and small enterprises in El Salvador, which is now underway.
The UE spirit to finance that project is to support entrepreneurs to reach economic sustainability, prosperity, and a satisfactory life quality, in order to contribute for an integral development in our nation, that will lead us to a global market niche. And the ultimate goal of that visionary spirit is to build a world with equity and more opportunities to live.
A very important area of my expertise has been gained from international training and projects implementation; and one of the most important learnings I was in Taiwan, Republic of China; a nation with kind and laborious people, innovative mind, loyal heart, and with a sound spirit of entrepreneurship and firm beliefs.
Now, back to the spirit of that project I formulated for the EU; a guessing thought arise in my mind: Why we in the world pretend to develop our countries excluding other nations from the international politic, social, and economic scenario?. Something wrong is in the mind of leaders who decide to act in that way. And that misunderstanding, comes from their heart, because they forget God, the only one owner of this planet, the only governor above all nations.
God wants all the humankind to be his truly sons and daughters, and for that purpose He will remove any obstacles; including those ones who deny Taiwan, Republic of China as a member of the United Nations organization.
Progress can not be built excluding others. World sustainability can not be built on foundations of political ego and unreasonable decisions about the human rights of others.
16. Free Bollywood Star - Sanjay Dutt
Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has been jailed for six years for buying weapons from bombers who attacked the Indian city of Mumbai (Bombay) in 1993.
The actor was cleared of conspiracy, but found guilty of illegally possessing a rifle and a pistol. Dutt, who has been on bail since 1995 after spending 18 months in prison during the initial investigations into the bombings, has now been taken back into custody.
In anticipation of the sentence, he had stopped accepting new Bollywood projects and had completed almost all the films he had already been working on.
Dutt, whose recent hits include Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai (Keep Going Munnabhai), is one of the top stars in an industry starved of heroes.
Film expert Komal Nahata told the BBC News website that Sanjay Dutt is currently one of the top 10 actors in Bollywood.
Sanjay Dutt, son of a Hindu father and Muslim mother, had initially confessed to having the weapon in order to defend his family against threats during the riots.
17. Australia should have another referendum regarding becoming a republic
The best option for Australia as an up-and-coming nation is to break free
from the monarchy and become a republic.
The Queen does nothing for us
and we are only connected by title and by parliament.
It's time to move on Australia.
18. Plebiscite for an Australian republic
The Australian people should be given the chance to say whether they wish to live in an Australian republic, with an Australian head of state, without being asked to also make a decision, initially, as to just what form that republic might take.
This petition aims to persuade Federal lawmakers to gve Australians the chance to have their say on this issue: something Australians have never had the opportunity to do before.

20. NO FUTURE LEADER WILL HAVE TO KNEEL FOR ME!
The thoughts behind this pledge.
As a petition is only a question to take action in a certain area of policy, it doesn’t take much of the signers to put their autograph beneath it. It can be done with no attention for the goal. The pledge combined with a petition will ask something from the person who puts his autograph beneath it. There is a certain amount of personal value that is invested in this pledge. No one signs this pledge without giving it their attention.
A pledge is not a legal document, and shouldn't be treated as such. It is asking for a man, or womans word to uphold a promise they made.
Don't sign this pledge lightly.
Make it a real commitment to Life.
You will not only influence the leaders. You will influence the collective heart of humanity.
Leadership is an act of taking responsibility.
Warschauer Kniefall is a German term meaning "The Warsaw Genuflection (kneeling)", which refers to the incident on December 7, 1970, in which social democratic Chancellor of Germany Willy Brandt, while visiting a monument to the Nazi-era Warsaw Ghetto Uprising in the then communist Peoples Republic of Poland, very surprisingly, and to all appearances spontaneously, knelt. The occasion was the signing of the Treaty of Warsaw between West Germany and the Peoples Republic of Poland. It should be noted in this context that Brandt himself had actively resisted the Nazi regime.
In historical terms, Brandt gained much renown for this act, and it is thought to be one of the reasons he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1971.
While at the time, positive reactions may have been limited, his show of humility was a small but vital step in bridging the gaps World War II had left between Germany and Eastern Europe.
With enough pledges collected, this pledge will turn into a petition for the worlds leaders to sign. It will be taken to the United Nations as a powerfull statement from the people of the world. The more pledges from the people, the more powerfull the statement and pressure on the leaders.
"My greatest succes was having contributed to the fact that, in the world we live in, the name of our country, Germany that is, and the concept of peace can again be mentioned in the same breath."
(Willy Brandt, 1913-1992)
To all Irish Football fans - help Kevin make up his mind.
Staunton still hoping to land Nolan
-------------------------------------------
From rte.ie - Wednesday, 09 August 2006 2:13
Steve Staunton is still hoping that Kevin Nolan will don the green Irish jersey. Republic of Ireland manager Steve Staunton is hoping to cut through a mountain of red tape in a bid to lure Kevin Nolan into the fold.
Staunton and Bolton captain Nolan have discussed on several occasions the prospect of the midfielder pulling on the green of Ireland.
Staunton is eager to recruit a player of Nolan's calibre, yet there remain obstacles, even though he qualifies to play for the Republic via the grandparents' ruling.
Nolan has previously played for England at under-21 level, albeit in a friendly, and featured in a competitive game for the under-18s.
There is a precedent as Everton's Tim Cahill played for Samoa at youth level, yet now represents Australia after lodging a successful appeal with FIFA.
Staunton is not giving up just yet as he said: 'There's a lot of issues surrounding this one.
'Once we cut through the red tape then we will know where we are, and I cannot say much more than that.'
22. Where is freedom of speech in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus?
Open letter from the Community of Global Defenders of Truth, Justice, Peace and Tolerance:
The modern world is crying with blood and tears for a universal and sincere recognition of these values. Are not these values enshrined in the Holy Quran and the teachings of our beloved Prophet (saw)?
Over the last 50 years (half a century!) no single human being has supported and defended these values more ardently than the Most Venerable Sheikh ul Islam Muhammed Nazim Adil Haqqani.
He was born in Cyprus and brought up and educated in a great tradition of learning and practice by some of the greatest saintly scholars of Islam, in the last century. In his mission to serve the Almighty Allah Ta'ala, Sheikh Nazim has traveled the world to communicate the message of Truth from the shores of California in the west to those of Japan in the east, and from the confines of the Caucasus in the North to the perimeter of the southern seas in South Africa. His 25 years (1975-2000)of observance of the holy fasting month of Ramadan in Britain, the nightly celebration of Teravih prayers in London, and endless weeks of lecturing, advice and support to countless number of adherents to the faith of Islam, and to non-Muslims, are all testimony to a remarkable life dedicated to preaching Truth, Justice, Peace and Tolerance.
Having now returned to his native Cyprus he continues to dedicate whatever remains of his life to serving the cause of Allah Ta'ala as before. Recent events in TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) regarding the harassment of Sheikh Nazim are deplorable to say the least. His weekly newsletter- one sided A4 printout, 40-50 in number- has worried the TRNC police (in TRNC police forces are under the military forces of mainland Turkey and not the local government minister) so much so that they confiscated a computer on 22-03-2006 and they are now running a full scale investigation which will lead to the prosecution of Sheikh Nazim for allegedly acting against the TRNC!
The message given out in Sheikh Nazim's leaflets do not carry any material that threatens national security or is inflammatory and likely to produce an upheaval. They are simple guidance calling on all people to recognize their creator and not to neglect their duty to Him. The forces responsible for this unfortunate behavior are acting independently of the democratic government of the TRNC.
The government of the TRNC is democratically elected and the whole world has followed with intent the evolution of democracy on mainland Turkey and the TRNC. It is a great credit to the people of these lands that they act as a beacon of democracy to the rest of the Muslim world, which is at present caught up in the throes of change.
The personality and standing of Sheikh Nazim is undoubtedly linked to the march towards freedom and peace of this important geographical and strategic region of the globe. It is sad to note that those who want to hamper this natural evolution of events leading to the welfare and prosperity of society misunderstand the essence of Sheikh Nazim's message.
After more than a century of official atheism, crass materialism, capitalism -you name it- human society across the world inspite of severe dislocations to- day seem to be poised to recognize the role of his creator in his worldly affairs. Many heads of state and government across the world do not hesitate to express publicly their belief in and worship of God.
The message of Sheikh Nazim is pure and simple, namely : Acknowledge Allah Ta'ala as your creator and Master first and the rest will follow. Let government and society show allegiance to the Lord Almighty- the fall out of a sincere and genuine faith in Him can but lead to peace, prosperity and happiness not only in this physical world but most importantly in the next world after death.
No amount of improvement in economic, scientific and technological progress etc is likely to bring peace to a world in dire need of it when this important criterion of Belief in Allah Ta'ala is missing in human affairs.
Sheikh Nazim is highly respected by both governments on the island of Cyprus as an exponent for peace. His role in the last referendum for unification of Cyprus was crucial in enabling the TRNC to project a worldwide and unique image of tolerance. This tolerance in fact is a national characteristic of the TRNC people.
We call on the police and the Turkish military presence in the TRNC to reconsider their position in the light above. May Allah Ta'ala help them to do so.

23. Bring back the word "Republic" to describe the USA
March 05, 2006
The United States is not a democracy. It has never been a democracy, it is in fact a republic, a form of goverment in which representitives are elected rather than direct votes.
This works better than democracy because opinions that may change drastically do not take effect immediatly causing society to crash.
Whenever you are about to say the word democracy in regard to our great republic, remember to say republic not democracy and make the word part of common usage again.

25. Support Taiwan's bid to UN
Update: September 1, 2007
Please sign the updated petition at the following link Online petition - Support UN Membership for Taiwan.
The TECRO Press Release promoting the new petition can be found here.
----------------------------------------------
The Republic of China (Taiwan) is a free and peace-loving state, and its democratically elected government is the only one that represents the interests and wishes of the people of Taiwan.
Taiwan is the only nation not represented in the global assembly. The United Nations' exclusion of Taiwan violates the principles and spirit of the UN Charter, in particular the fundamental principle of universality, and of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Taiwan and its 23 million people are capable of making significant contributions to many UN efforts around the globe. Taiwan is also eager to do its part to combat such international problems as regional conflict, terrorism, drug trafficking, organized crime, and environmental degradation. However, Taiwan is denied an important means of collaborating with international partners. This unnecessarily complicates the task at hand and hampers efforts to deal with such critical issues.
Moreover, as we enter the tenth anniversary of the 1996 Taiwan Strait Missile Crisis, the recent missile tests by North Korea have once again raised grave concerns throughout the international community. From this perspective, Taiwan’s allies have expanded the scope of areas with security concerns in the peace proposal to include all East Asian countries rather than just the Taiwan Strait. They stress that certain countries in the region engage in the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction as well as missile deployment or testing, thereby escalating regional tension and affecting world peace.
Taiwan is a democratic nation that respects human rights, freedom, and peace. Taiwan meets all the requirements of UN membership. It makes little sense that Taiwan is ignored when considering the fact that Taiwan serves as a model for freedom and democracy in the Asia-Pacific and a beacon of hope for those living under communist rule. To safeguard peace, the United Nations has to facilitate the necessary dialogue between Taiwan and the People's Republic of China.
Please support Taiwan and help it gain representation in the United Nations.
26. Close Polish commitee of scientific research

27. Abolish Special Status for Jammu and Kashmir
The Government of India has always considered the state of Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of the Republic yet its own policy of special status for the state prevents the state from integrating into the country.
By barring Indian citizens from settling in the States, the assimilation of the state is hampered. Moreover considering Pakistan has accelerated interstate immigration into Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, the initial intent of preserving the demographics of the state for a plebescite is no longer valid.
If J&K is to one day be a prosperous and integrated state in India, the special status of the state should be repealed.
