31. Petition for a referendum on the future of the Odeon building in Bradford

“The future of the Odeon is of great concern to the people of Bradford, as was apparent by the great turnout at the recent ‘Hug the Odeon’ event.

If we are to regenerate Bradford, then I believe the Odeon would be a excellent place to start, a restored Odeon could become, for example a regional concert hall or arts centre.

I would call on the people of Bradford to support our call for a referendum. As our elected councillors have showed no willingness to listen to the people I suggest we demand a referendum and let the people decide the future of the Odeon.”

32. Eliminate Exemptions To Referendum

Year after year, the school districts raise property taxes so much that homeowners cannot keep pace with these increases.

They are struggling to keep their homes.

Act 1 controls on budgets need to be tightened. The exemptions to the inflation index on spending must be eliminated.

The index provides more than enough revenue to meet educational needs.

If the school boards want to spend more than necessary, then they should seek permission from the public.

Strong referendums give the community a better opportunity to participate in the management of education.

The school districts have millions sitting in surplus funds; they do not need loopholes to continue their expensive habits of the past.

35. Oversease Taiwanese and Youths Dismiss Taiwan Congress

36. The State Sovereignty Project

Claims of state sovereignty and secession-rights were denied via the American Civil War, but this denial was never legally examined to determine its validity; rather, they were forced on the states solely through federal brute force. However, various experts have recently challenged such denial, claiming that the states are truly sovereign, and that such denial is therefore in breach of existing law. These experts include such reputable and accredited and educated professionals and professors such as Drs. Thomas DiLorenzo, Walter Williams, Thomas E. Woods and others.

If such experts are indeed correct, then this bears dire meaning for our State, with regard to its sovereignty -- as well as to our rights as Michigan citizens.

The State Sovereignty Project therefore seeks to petition the Michigan state legislature to draft a referendum-proposal in order to examine and verify this issue.

This proposal, if passed, will authorize an official state convention, to examine the political status of the State of Michigan according to valid law. This convention will convene a team of of objective and independent experts in the field of legal research, who will examine all relevant evidence regarding this matter.

From this evidence, this team and Convention will determine the actual meaning and impact of the laws and Constitution regarding the political status of the State of Michigan, in relation to the federal Union and government.

Subsequently, the People of the State of Michigan will then examine the Convention's findings, and determine appropriate action in response to such.

37. Maintain Rolling Thunder Drumline tradition of excellence

This year with the passed referendum, the Dover High School band was able to purchase more equipment for the drumline. With this additional purchase, more students were allowed to enter the drumline. Six students passed their audition from Central and were accepted in to the Rolling Thunder Drumline. However, there are 10 students from Central being admitted.

There is a total of 15 new person entering the drumline and 5 outgoing members. This creates the need for an additional 10 instruments. While the referendum will provide those instruments, the allotted space of the drumline room does not. Additionally, the Rolling Thunder Drumline has always performed with a tradition of excellence and standard of precision. By allowing those who failed their auditions for what ever reason to join this elite group of percussionists, we are degrading the abilities as a whole to perform. Shows will not be as glamorous and the reputation of the best drumline around will diminish.

A certain skill level is required for all performance and competition teams and drumline is no exception. The rest of the band was not forced to take on additional students who failed but the premiere section is being forced in to just that. On top of the loss of skill, there is not enough space for all the drums, and perhaps most important to those accepted, there are simply not enough positions in the concert season for 30+ percussionists.

I propose that the four who failed their auditions be removed from the program. If Dover High School started accepting anyone who auditioned whether they passed or not, the reputation of the band would change from superior to embarrassing. Rules should not be changed because of complaints when it is in fact not a fault with the rules but with the preparation of the students.
