1. Let UK citizens vote in a Scotland Idependance Referendum 
I believe this is the ideal opportunity to decide what United Kingdom citizens collectively wish to happen with regard to Scottish Independence.
It costs the UK billions every year to support Scotland. Similarly Scotland would be left with huge debt following separation.
The implications are serious for all UK citizens so it should be the decision of all United Kingdom citizens.
2. No EU Treaty Change Without Referendum
EU leaders are now suggesting far reaching changes to the European Union to take much greater CONTROL of all Member States.
Let the People decide. No EU Treaty changes without a referendum.
3. ASK US FIRST for Referendum on Water Meters
In June 2012, Kapiti Coast District Council (KCDC) is proposing to introduce water metering of all private residencies in the District. The ratepayers are expected to fund the initial installation cost (estimated to be in excess of NZ $8,000,000) and the ongoing annual maintenance costs (yet to be determined) for these meters.
It is widely purported that although 80% of Kapiti Coast ratepayers are opposed, the Mayor and Councillors are determined to proceed with their actions.
Despite a request by residents for a referendum, the Mayor is ignoring the ratepayers and in a Kapiti Observer article dated 22/08/2011 she said the Council did not think a referendum was required.
Phase one of the campaign culminated in a street petition of 7662 signatures being presented to KCDC. This online petition will continue into 2012 to allow Kapiti Coast residents who want to be heard and raise the number of signatures over the 10,000 mark.

It is a fact, successive governments have made major decisions which affect the people of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, yet they fail to consult them. In some circumstances, such as going to war in Iraq and Afghanistan this has cost lives and heartbreak. In other circumstances, such as Europe and the Lisbon Treaty, political leaders have promised a referendum, only to withdraw their offer.
The National Liberal Party believes in direct democracy along similar lines to those currently used in Switzerland. We call for this to be introduced into law enabling the people to be consulted before we enter into conflicts which do not necessarily concern this country, as well as other major decisions of national importance.
Switzerland has proved this can work. Therefore we believe it is time we followed the successful Swiss example, and allow the people of England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland to be consulted via referendum as part of the democratic process of government.
5. Death Penalty in South Africa - Referendum
Violent crime in South Africa, as in many countries, has risen dramatically over a number of years.
We, the citizens of South Africa, request that a Referendum be held to gauge the Public opinion on the return of the Death Penalty for violent crime in our country.

The laws need to be altered so that the promises that are made during the election campaign are adhered to in the time-frame that is also stated at that time AND to a budget that they state also.

Or if they decide "its not feasable anymore" then they need to ask the public with a referendum so we decide what they do about it.

8. Yes Give People a Vote - Carbon Tax Plebiscite
The Hon. Julia Gillard MP stated,
"There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead."
Had she stated,
"There will be a carbon tax under the government I lead."
The election result may have been different.
Therefore before:
1) the Senate is controlled by the Greens, and
2) countless millions of taxpayer dollars are spent on advertising campaigns,
the voters of Australia should be given the opportunity to give the Federal Government a mandate for the proposed carbon tax.
9. End Lib-Dem cooperation with the Coalition
A coalition is when two or more parties in government work together, either because of similar ideology or to achieve an elective majority, theoretically reaching compromises on important subjects to achieve a roughly even legislative record (issue #1 goes to party A, issue #2 goes to party B in exchange. It's not ideal, but both parties get something they want).
This coalition fails in both of those regards.
The Lib-Dems do not, and should not, have even a remotely similar political ideology to the Conservative Party. Similarly, the Tories have little to nothing in common with the Lib-Dems, and compromises on major issues have been non-existent. Instead, only a series of humiliating concessions have been made, and the Prime Minister has seen fit to lend his weight to sabotaging even these, as has been made clear with the referendum.
This is not a coalition, it is a Tory government masquerading as a coalition, pinning the blame for their actions on the Liberal Democrats whilst slowly eating their electoral base.
It is a state of affairs that cannot continue, and thus the Liberal Democrats must salvage what is left of their reputation and leave this ship of government before they are nailed to the mast. They do not deserve the criticisms aimed at them, and if they are to avoid decimation at the next election they must realise their mistake early, pull out, and assume a campaign of coordinated blocking of the government's supposed-reforms until concessions are made on major points of Lib-Dem policy and tangible results are produced as a result.

11. Referendum to stop Foreign Aid for 5 years
Australia and her people have been abused terribly by mother nature in every state, causing a staggering amount of damage, compounding our ailing infrastructure. We already had over 200,000 homeless before flood, cyclone and fire made that total over half a million.
Our elderly are struggling to survive, our children are being abused, crime is rampant, we don't have enough police, ambos or fire fighters, we need more hospitals and more schools because of forced population growth,yet our politicians still think its ok to give 33% of our gross national income to overseas bureaucrats to share small portions with the needy.
We, the people of Australia, now find ourselves in great need to help our own and rebuild our own. We must now step back from helping others for 5 years and help ourselves recover 100%, before we again start helping others again. Australian taxes are need here at home.
12. Make Scotland an Independent Nation
Pledge your support to make Scotland an Independent nation once again. Let us govern our own affairs and and let our people make our own choices and decisions.
The proposals would see Scotland becoming an Internationally recognised country, with the Queen as Head of State, governed by an elected Parliament and Prime Minister from Edinburgh, our ancient and current capital.
We would govern our own health system, education, travel, infrastructure, immigration, welfare, defence, culture, sport, and financial institutions. We can set our own tax rates and make the best decisions for everyone in our country, regardless off origin.
We will be a world leader in renewable energies and stabilise our economy with exports and the oil industry. Culture and good living would be encouraged by promoting our history and natural beauty. Gaelic would be heavily promoted and taught in all schools, bringing our national language back into the forefront of our society.
We would keep close and good relations with our neighbours in England and the other devolved countries, having minimal passport checks and good trade agreements.
13. Support calls for a UK national referendum
Vice Chairman of the BML, Ian Roberts has predicted the outcome of a national referendum to determine if the British public support the British monarchy.
"Republicans would be thoroughly defeated if a referendum were to be held on this matter".
We feel it is time to stop predicting what an entire nation thinks and back our call to see whether this prediction is right... or not.
14. Boycott the Referendum on Electoral Reform - Sign if you want Fair Votes!
We were promised a referendum on Electoral Reform in the UK. Yet the best the Government can offer us is a choice between the current, unrepresentative "First Past the Post" and the immoral, unfair "Alternative Vote" system, where the victor is decided by second, third, fourth or even fifth or sixth best votes rather than genuine support for a party.
Currently, and which would still be the case should the Alternative Vote be adopted, a vote is only powerful enough to elect a single MP to "represent" the voters' constituency in Parliament. The UK is one of the oldest democracies in the world, and given that 21st Century politics is much focused on the race to who will form a government, this system of "First Past the Post" is outdated and not up to scratch in giving voters a real voice in elections.
A switch to the proposed Alternative Vote system would only change the way we vote. Instead of putting an "X" next to our selected candidates, we will be made to put numbers in descending order according to our "preferential" selection of each candidate. Not only will this be a pain in what ever but it will also cause problems in future elections. The thousands of people being left without a "voice" at the last General Elections due to polling stations closing before they got inside after waiting for hours in long ques is down partly to some voters not actually deciding who they will vote for before coming to the polling booth, news sources have claimed. Imagine what will happen if voters were to draw up a list of their most desired candidate down to their least desired candidate!
This is not necessarily a petition and is not going to anyone. This is a call to BOYCOTT the referendum in May 2011. No, not to abstain but to write "BOYCOTT" in clear, capital letters on the ballot papers. Sign up to this "petition" to confirm you will be voting to boycott this referendum. Just write "Anonymous" or any nickname you wish to use.
A "No" vote will be allowing the Government to assume we do not want an Electoral Reform of any kind. A "Yes" vote would leave us stuck with the Alternative Vote for a good number of generations to come. The more "Boycott Votes" we can get through, the more seriously the establishment would have to take our call for a Proper Referendum for Proper Electoral Reform.
For those of you who don't know, Proportional Representation is a system in which MPs are elected equally to how much votes their party gets, where votes can directly influence which party forms a government and who becomes Prime Minister, and is being used in many of the fastest developing countries around the world. Why can the Government not offer that as an option instead of a complex style of voting?
Please give a few minutes of your time to consider this as this will influence your daily life, and the daily lives of your children and grand-children. What will it be, will you vote "Yes" or "No" and let the Government take us, the voters for sheep, or will you simply write "BOYCOTT" on the ballot paper for a Real Referendum Now?

15. Support the Library Bond Referendum
The Support the Library Bond Referendum Coalition was formed by private citizens and members of the libraries' Friends groups to garner support for the upcoming referendum vote on Nov. 2 (and in early voting prior to that date). We believe that the Central Library and Clemmons and Kernersville branches are in disrepair and overcrowded, and need to be replaced or substantially renovated.
We also believe that there are a number of additional branches in the Forsyth County Library system (that are also included in the referendum) that need repairs and renovations as well.
16. DEPORT GILLES DUCEPPE / EXPULSER GILLES DUCEPPE
GILLES DUCEPPE is a flamboyant personality who claims leadership of the federal BLOC QUEBECOIS party, and has occupied a seat in the Canadian Parliament for 20 years.
Mr. DUCEPPE is not entitled to that seat, for a number of reasons:

It's about time Canadians woke up and held him to his word. As GILLES DUCEPPE does NOT CONSIDER CANADA to be his COUNTRY, he is therefore NOT entitled to the privileges of being CANADIAN.
Two key privileges are the guarantees in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The right to VOTE belongs exclusively to CANADIANS. So does the right to be QUALIFIED to run for office and hold elected office.
2. On 23 September 1990, GILLES DUCEPPE publicly washed his hands of his OATH OF ALLEGIANCE that he swore to the QUEEN on 13 August 1990 as a Constitutional requirement to sit and vote in Canadian Parliament. GILLES DUCEPPE says the CONSTITUTIONAL requirement of a valid oath to sit and govern in Canada is an irrelevant TECHNICALITY.

In May of 2008, GILLES DUCEPPE was a guest speaker at the MODEL PARLIAMENT FOR NORTH AMERICA held in Montreal City Hall. THAT'S the "parliament" GILLES DUCEPPE serves, not the Parliament of Canada, and certainly not the parliament of the independent state of Quebec which he also intends to destroy.
For, once Canada is dissolved, Quebec is next, and so are all the other provinces. Because the continental parliament is EU-style. Member-states of the European Union are being DRAINED of their sovereignty. United Kingdom has lost 100% of its sovereignty over fishing, trade, environment and farming as a consequence of its membership of the European Union superstate. 17. Demand a Referendum on BBC Funding
The current system of BBC funding (TV Licence Fee) is unfairly burdensome on the poorest in the UK.
No other methods of funding have ever been explored by either the BBC or the UK government.
We would like to show the Board of Education that they have our support for a referendum to be placed on the ballot in November 2010.
19. Citizens of Fitzgerald & Ben Hill County
Going before the Ben Hill County Board of Commissioners on April 6, 2010, is the 2011 SPLOST Referendum.
The Fitzgerald City Council voted unanimously in favor of the final proposal in February 2010, meeting.
We ask that the City Council to reconsider allocating $600,000 toward synthetic turf.
We are continuing to collect signatures as the referendum is planned to appear before the County Commissioners on April 6, 2010.

21. Hold a Referendum on the Lisbon Treaty
In November 2009 the UK became part of an effective EU superstate, this of course is known by its name of the Lisbon Treaty which our country signed, however the ordinary citizen of Britain was never consulted in the process of signing the Lisbon Treaty.
However one little known part of the Lisbon Treaty has saved the day. Citizen's Initiative means that any signature that gets 1,000,000 signatures can be introduced as a bill in the European parliament. So the idea is to get Lisbon Treaty referendum as a bill in the European parliament.

We want David Cameron to keep his promise and hold a referendum on the Lisbon Treaty or we will not vote Conservative.
Recently, the chairman of the Conservative Party, David Cameron, has told voters that his party will not be holding a public referendum on the EU Lisbon Treaty, despite his iron-clad promise in 2007 assuring us that one would be held.

Neither Khamenei (Supreme Leader), Ahmadinejad, Mousavi, Rezaei, Karubi, Khatami, nor Rafsanjani represent the will of the Iranian people. Each of these men is part of the same fundamentalist, extremist, and state sponsored terrorist government and has blood on his hands.
It has been for more than 100 years that Iranians have fought for freedom and democracy against “Dictator Rulers of Iran”. For more than a century, hundreds of thousands of Iranian freedom fighters have been imprisoned, tortured, and killed. The real revolution has been repeatedly hijacked by groups of internal or external opportunists. For the past 30 years, over 100,000 innocent people have been killed and tortured by this tyrannical regime for freedom of speech and other basic human rights.
On June 20, 2009, one of these brave “freedom fighters” was Neda Agha-Soltan. Neda decorated the history of Iran with the blood of her martyrdom, just as other hundreds of thousands of martyrs did for freedom of Iran. Her real nickname is now Neda Azadi. Neda is the face of Iran. Neda is the voice of Iran. Neda is the symbol of the Iranian resistance against this brutal regime. As the world watched, Neda’s ultimate sacrifice through her murder by an Ahmadinejad’s Basiji gunman, demonstrates that the Iranian government has totally lost its legitimacy. Neda means regime change. Neda means calling for democracy and freedom. Neda’s singular wish was just to get her vote counted! No government has the right to act in such a brutal way to its own citizens! The International community, as well as Iranians, is also extremely concerned to have nuclear power in the hands of this recklessly brutal regime. Neda died chanting “Death to Dictators” and “Death to Khamenei. Neda did not die in Vein!
Neda’s “call” is for a new REFERENDUM in Iran. So, let the freedom ring!
We, the undersigned of this petition:
1) Call for the international leaders to immediately nullify the recent Iranian election and rightfully deny legitimacy to this government.
2) Request that Sepahe-Pasdaran and Basij (government’s special Para-military forces) must be disarmed by the United Nations peacekeeping forces.
3) Urge the United Nation to immediately send peace-keeping forces from multiple nations to Iran. The world community must administer and supervise a new REFERENDUM, so people may choose their own government through their new candidates. The world community must act quickly and efficiently to prevent further massacres of Iran’s peaceful protestors by an illegitimate and unwanted government.
4) Request that the referendum occur within the next thirty days or sooner in Iran for the election of a new democratic regime that respects the separation of church and state.
5) Request that the International Red Cross send a medical team to treat the wounded and the injured.
6) Request that a Team from an Amnesty International and a medical team from the International Red Cross to inspect the prisons and obtain the release of thousands of political prisoners.
7) Request that all world leaders immediately stop all diplomatic and economic relations with the Mullahs’ brutal regime. Specifically, we request that strict economic sanctions be imposed in regards with stopping any and all “Oil and Benzene” transactions. The Iranian people nullify and void any and all financial transactions made between current Iranian government and any foreign government as of the date of martyrdom of Neda and will not consider those government “a friend“ of Iranian people in Iran’s future.
8) Call for continued peaceful global demonstrations in support of Iranian movement for Regime Change till the call for a new referendum is achieved.
In summery, we the undersigned, acknowledge that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s repressive theocracy regime must end soon without further costs to human lives and we request for immediate and peaceful referendum in Iran through a democratic election process supervised by The United Nations peacekeeping forces as outlined above. We further discourage and condemn any forms of talks or appeasement with these terrorist Mullahs as well as any military intervention by any foreign armed forces except for the United Nations peacekeeping force.
26. Save Our Watts
SAVE OUR WATTS!
This is a petition against the EU removing the measure of power "watts" from lightbulbs and replacing them with the measure "lumens". From September next year, lightbulbs in the European Union will no longer be marked with wattage, they will instead be marked in lumens. There is fear these bulbs are linked to several health issues including skin rashes, migraine and epilepsy. There are also safety concerns because of their mercury content, which makes them difficult and dangerous to dispose of. Watts is our standard measure for the power produced by a lightbulb and is understood worldwide. This will also undoubtly have an affect on our children aswell, as watts is often used in Physics and is an intracil part of it. However without this in mainstream society, it will most likely prove to be negative on our children's understanding of the measure.
The Watt is named after Scotsman James Watt, the developer of the steam engine amongst other creations such as rotary engine and letter copying press (essentialy a very early photocopier). The unit of power was first accepted into the British Association for the Advancement of Science in 1889 and since it's acception into the International System of Units in 1960 it has been ever-present on almost every lightbulb world-wide.
高鐵香港段是曾蔭權十大基建之一，公眾諮詢未有定論之際，就決定2009年動工，不但草率，更盡顯霸道作風。此鐵路由落馬洲經米埔、新田、牛潭尾、大江埔、石崗、八鄉，穿過大欖郊野公園、林村郊野公園、大帽山郊野公園、城門郊野公園，再經石蔭、金山郊野公園、蘇屋、大角咀、旺角到西九龍總站，將旅客由邊境帶去西九。耗資395億，搗山破石，截流毀田，對全港市民有損無益，我們絕不能讓工程拍板過關，理由如下：
一. 高鐵香港段並無必要興建：如此短距運輸(26公里)根本無須建高速鐵路(時速200公里)。政府和地鐵公司都強調這條鐵路可以節省交通時間，「市民每年節省4,000萬小時的交通時間」，其實是誤導，因為那是指中國大陸的高速鐵路部份。
二. 近年大量基建工程草率上馬，名義上是用公帑製造就業，但完全沒有證明所花鉅款會去到需要合理收入的基層市民手中——聘用顧問公司及重重外判之下，最後工人得到的根本就是被壓到最低的工資。
三. 近年草率上馬的很多工程，在香港如此細小空間交叉出現，可見就每個工程通過的環境影響評估(EIA)其實是全無意義的，是完全不反映其共同製造的效應的。例如在九龍區就會在2009-2016年間有六個大型工程同時進行，對地對人造成的干擾、困擾，誰來計算﹗而此等運輸基建是一方面鐵路與公路路線重覆，使用率偏低，另方面，鐵路本身亦是互相重覆，如這條高鐵香港段的好一段，便與已拍板的北環線重疊。
四. 此工程是引進其他新界工程的前奏，包藏將新界鄉郊開發得面目全非之禍心，是令郊野公園、生態敏感地帶成為名存實亡的重要分水嶺。新界郊野是香港要有一口新鮮空氣、一掬凈水，保留僅餘的野生動物及山林景色的最後堡壘。進一步開發新界事關全港市民，不能由政府、發展商，結合一小撮「專業人士」揑造的歪理去將新界變成「副都市」(例如某專業聯盟就將新界比喻為「必須要100%開發的第三世界」)。另一方面，政府從不回應長期以來民間要求修復新界被破壞的土地、支援有機農業、嚴懲亂倒亂伐亂燒的行徑，相反地，還以「已被破壞」為藉口去在各處策動工程——這高鐵香港段就是一例。此舉根本就是鼓勵人去違法破壞，等待收地。
五. 此項工程規模龐大，影響全香港市民的生活質素，但在立法會上，對這方面全無討論，財務委員會就已於2008年7月8日批准其設計及地盤勘察的撥款近28億。在所謂公眾諮詢過程中，則只在極少地點張貼通告。而一直以來，有關當局根本沒有向公眾提供合格的生態資料，讓全民質詢、分析和判斷工程後果之嚴重性。例如，地下鐵路在施工階段，會如何影響地下水位？會否污染地下水源？對多個郊野公園的植被和生物會帶來甚麼影響？對米埔及后海灣濕地又有何影響？未來鐵路及通風樓在運作時，對這些生態敏感地區的影響又如何？
六. 即使已公佈的資訊，也不儘不實，完全隱瞞會引致的環境危機。以下是一些例子：
(a) 將EIA包裝為科學、客觀、獨立，實際上香港的EIA是項目倡議者委託而做，為工程能輕易上馬服務的。
(b) EIA條例下的「工程項目簡介」以落馬洲支線為先例，誤導市民這只是又一個「無害」的地下鐵路工程而已，事實上，落馬洲支線的環境影響——尤其是長遠影響——公眾根本無從得知，也無法跟進。
(c) 將一些牽涉甚廣的工程部份輕輕帶過，例如單說要建一些通風樓，殊不知建樓就要建路；而單說鑽挖隧道，又不提挖掘出來的以百噸計的石將丟往何處？
(d) 強調鐵路作為集體運輸工具，比其他路面交通工具更環保——事實上，建了鐵路，是否就廢棄本來的公路？當然不是，所以，多建只是增加污染，加速地球暖化吧。
28. We demand a Referendum on the EU Reform Treaty
In 2004, Tony Blair, the then Labour Party leader and British Prime Minister, promised the country a referendum on the EU Constitution.
He did this because the EU Constitution altered Britain’s relationship with the European Union and handed over a massive amount of power to Brussels. In 2005, the Labour Party fought and won a General Election with the referendum pledge contained in their manifesto.
Also in 2005, the EU Constitution was rejected by French and Dutch voters, ensuring the proposed constitution was scrapped.
Now, in place of the failed EU Constitution, EU leaders, including Prime Minister Gordon Brown, have signed a Reform Treaty, which is almost identical to the EU Constitution. It also involves a huge amount of powers being transferred to Brussels. However, the Labour Party has gone back on its referendum pledge of 2005 and is refusing to give the people a vote.
We, the UK Independence Party South Sefton Branch, believe that this is a disgrace and a betrayal of the British people. Therefore we are calling on Bootle’s Labour MP to follow the lead of his Labour colleagues on Merseyside, Frank Field MP and Bob Wareing MP, and support a referendum.
29. Call for EU Reform Treaty Referendum
A petition of the people of Cornwall calling to have their say on the EU Reform Treaty by way of a Referendum.
30. WE DEMAND A REFERENDUM ON THE EU TREATY
The current Labour government was elected in 2005 on a manifesto that promised to hold a referendum on the constitution of the EU.
Now the name of the constitution has been changed to Treaty and no referendum is planned.
The consequences of Britain signing up to this treaty will massively influence how this country is run and the electorate have the right to vote.
